N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So do we know how many divisions we have yet?  From looking at the PIR date before us, it ends on 368.  My son is in 369, so he looks to be in the 1st division.

Carla, it was a huge relief to just hear that she's okay and everything is going okay. Maybe on Saturday your son will call you because my daughter said they will get to make a call sometime on Saturday.

Lisa.... Im jealous.. the last contact i had from himn was a text that said he landed in chicago. told him I loved and him and he said love you to mom... I will never delete that message! I agree to hear his voice would be so much more reassuring.. going from daily talking to nothing is not right!!

thank you for your help,, unfortunatly my ex and i havent been on the best of speaking terms over the years but I can put my son above him any day of the week. I know this is a time for my baby not his father!! My sons recruiter has been very helpful as far as giving me PIR date and his address ( which was something that I actually had before his father!) I am aware taht his father and I will need to be spending time with him together but it isn't in my priority to stay at same hotel/ nor share a car if you get my drift. I am familiar with the Great Lakes area so im using this time to go see friends and family after PIR as well. I do know that my son put me on the list. he knows i would hunt him down anyway. My son and I are on good terms its only his father.. Sorry i have rambled on .. going to take a trip to the mailbox.. I was hoping for at least a letter from the kid!

Mommaacnavy... For sure. Before that I was going out of my mind with worry, especially with no form letter. I feel so much better now.

Lisa - so happy for you to get a call!  It's a game changer to actually hear their voice :)

Actually, in divorce situations, I was told by someone at RTC that a SR can request a 2nd form letter for the other parent, but most won't as they don't want to draw attention to themselves.

Years ago, there used to be a Family Day the day before PIR.  The sailors were allowed to be there with the families, but that was discontinued.  Now, the MeetandGreet is a substitute (but not Navy-sponsored)....and there will be no sailors there.  No one will see their sailors before PIR Day.
