While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 425 and 426
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

My son is in Div 426. He will be a machinist's mate (no idea where the apostrophe is supposed to go...or even if there is one! Lol!). He will remain at Great Lakes for A school. He is born and raised vegetarian, so I am hoping that he is doing well...he told me that he was eating a lot of salad. Heehee. Looking forward to PIR!

Very cool! Before my son graduated high school, he had to do an assignment where he interviewed a "diplomat" (we are outside of DC). He interviewed a co-workers' husband (career Navy, higher-up kind of guy). After SR interviewed him, he showed off some things that he has collected over the years, including some gifts that he had received after leaving certain ships. He commented that because ships can be out in the middle of nowhere, when things break you can't just get new parts and machinist's mates would build what was needed with what they had. Many of the items on his gifts were things that machinist's mates had made, such as a bell (from the mess hall?). SR just thought that was the coolest thing ever.

My son is also ship 14 div 426.....he will be in aviation, his rate ABF....his A-school will be in Pensacola Florida. My son says he's always hungry, that they don't get enough food....but he's always hungry and I'm sure all the exercise they are doing is making him even more hungry.

My stepson, Devin is in Div 425 and headed to Pens FL for his A school unless something changes between now and then. I'm not sure I know his rate...he's said aviation fueling. I'm sure there's a term for this...but I'm still new...
Any others from NC?
First time for him being away from home. I don't think he realized he was homesick until Saturday when he called and got to talk to all of us. It was a relief to hear from him. Did everyone from these Divisions get to call?
CallsforRecruits@gmail.com - Great idea and no cost. Email requesting calling card and he will send you 8 PIN numbers along with the 800 number for the card. He asks that your SR keep 6 and share two. They are 20 min each and no cost although they do accept donations. I've sent some with Devin when he left and just gotten another batch to send today in the mail. Also, if someone in these divisions are not getting mail or their family cannot make it for PIR, we're in NC. We're all for helping any other SR's too. I have a couple other groups I'm in contact with that will "adopt a recruit" to write to and even send Christmas gifts to.

My son is Div 425 and he will be staying at GL for A school. I understand that means we will have a little more time with him. The phone call on Saturday was great and I really needed to hear his voice.

Hi Everyone. My son is in Div 426. He too will be heading to A school in Pensacola. He will be an Aviation Equipment Safety Serviceman. Something like that. I know the termn they use around the service is a 'parachute ripper' or a PR.

My son is in Div 426. He will be going to Pensacola for A school and he'll be an Aviation Mechanic. I was lucky enough to get a call from him on Saturday. He is homesick but doing okay overall, but I can't wait to hear from him again.

Finally just today recieved my first letter from my son..was written two weeks ago..i have forgotten what its like to eait for actual mail in the mailbox....ugggg

We received our first letters yesterday as well! We received 3 in one day. They were all dated different days and my son referenced that they were not allowed to mail them yet, but was going to send it when he could. I hope this means that they are now receiving our mail as well and that the mail will flow freely back and forth!!! Just hearing his "voice" in the letters was amazing! My son alleged that "hell week" would be over by the 25th or 26th....what is "hell week"?

My son is Ship 14 Div 426 and will be going to A school in Texas. Corpsman but I didn't know to ask what kind. Are there a lot of different kinds of Corpsman? If SRs called on Saturday the 21st, do we expect another one this Saturday or two weeks? And I'm confused about counting the weeks/days?
