OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The one thing about missing a call is, according to my son, every time he used his calling card, it ate up at least 10 minutes before the call even was answered. That's why I suggested on the BootCamp Moms site to send your SR with a calling card with as many minutes as you can so that they don't run out. My son used at least 1 card plus the callsforrecruits numbers and still ran out. He was able to call someone almost every night after battlestations.

I also missed a call once because my daughter had been texting me for a few minutes.  I never even knew that calls didn't go through (well, at least on the phone that I had at the time)  if I was texting.  I had actually only texted the word "yes," to my daughter and in that very short amount of time, he had tried to call me.  He was able to call again 3 days later, so that was good.  :)

Jodi well that's good to know :) I had missed my first call - the I've arrived call, but it came 5 days after he was there, so I just wasn't expecting it. He left a voice mail sounding pretty displeased lol. Nonetheless, I won't miss this second one, IF and when it ever comes....and hopefully it does come. We shall see....We're almost through the week already.....

When my son (PIR 8/31) called the first time it was 3 weeks and 1 day from when he left. If that holds true for this group we should get calls this week. My letter day for my son was Thursday. Even towards the end I still got letters on Thursday but sometimes got letters other days when they were able to write more often. I got a letter from Luke (div 366) last week and it came on Thursday also.  Juliette, I remember missing my son's call - I was mowing my mom's lawn and asked her to watch the phone for me. Of course he called, she answered and thought she hung up on him so she brought me the phone. I had just gotten a new one and wasn't really familiar with it so I thought he was gone and hung it up. However, he was still on the line and I hung up ON him. I was so bummed. He did call back so if your SR misses you, he probably will get to try you again.

Ladies, one way of looking at it, is that boot camp is a great practice for when your sailors will be out in the fleet.  You are learning to practically glue your phone to yourself and that won't end in boot camp, lol.  But, please don't beat yourselves up if you do happen to miss a call.  We all do. Try to remember that there will most likely be some missed ones and your future sailors will understand.  Hopefully, they will have other chances to call back at some point.    :)

Traveling everywhere with my cell phone is a real pain. I go room to room with it, keep it out at work, take it to the bathroom, have it right in front of me while driving, it sits right next to me outside of the shower. It's been in some really ODD places to say the least lol. I'm paranoid of missing another call....so now, I'm obsessed.

My letter day is Usually Thursdays.. I hope with this change she is able to write.... I will be stalking the mail box on the corner. We get our mail on different corners of our little borough of Nescopeck.  Mine is right down the street. She usually fills up the mail boxes around 11:00. Will be there waiting for her...

Lisa, received 1 letter so far and NO phone call yet. I'm sick to death of packing my cell phone everywhere with me! And I'm getting irritated with sending a letter everyday and getting nothing in return :( but that's okay...I will survive. I know she doing okay and she loves it so I'm not to worried (YET) LOL

Juliette, I think we are all starting to feel like we are crazy, we all feel we have been so good, writing letters with no answer, and still do it every day, we all feel like our cell phones are glued to our body, I would do serious damage to anyone who got between me and that phone, waiting is sooooooooooooooooo hard, I know that they will come but not soon enough for me.  Hang in there,  we are all right with you!
