Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

We are leaving a little sooner than I thought so we should be there mid afternoon, depending on the Chicago traffic. Safe traveling to all of you leaving for Great Lakes.

So excited about PIR and throwing an election in there isn't helping me stay calm. I am going to walk the dog until we both collapse! :) I have my suitcase all packed and keep going through it to make sure I havent forgotten anything. Can't wait to see everyone!!!

Comment by karens (alumni ship 13-Div 366) on November 6, 2012 at 2:26pm: Navy Sisters, Last post before I leave for PIR (or at least I think) going hiking with my 30 yr old, his dog and my Lucky as she will be away from me for a few days, going to dinner at my oldest son and daughter in laws tonight so they can give me stuff to give to our Sailor as they are unable to attend. Working tomorrow, getting Lucky settled at oldest sons house Wed night, then leaving for Phila airport at 4:30 am thursday morning. I hope I get to meet all of you, know that is not possible but please know you and your Sailor will be in my heart. I could NEVER have gotten through this without all of you, thank you so much, to our veteran Moms, GOD BLESS YOU, for getting us all here. I pray that when PIR is over that I can pay this forward to all the new families. Thanks again, HUGS
