For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Juliette on September 27, 2012 at 1:41pm: Vicki - awesome! And yeah..mazzy, the Red Carpet Inn is like 1 mile from base, and walking distance to places...like the meet and greets and such before PIR. Good spot I think - it has a shuttle, that was most important! :)

Comment by Juliette on September 27, 2012 at 1:15pm: thanks girl. i'm hoping too! i'm not booked at the days inn...i did book at the red carpet in - they have a shuttle to PIR, free breakfast, and were cheap (place could be a dive, i dont know lol) - nonetheless, it's also a mile from base, very close. hurry and book soon...before it gets close to filling up!

Comment by Jodi-alumni Ship 4 on September 27, 2012 at 9:59am: Good Morning Diannep. How's your day going? Just a suggestion ladies. Even if your SR took stamps, try to send them some more later. I sent stamps with my son and they can buy them at the NEX but sometimes they get too busy to get over there and buy them. My son didn't mail his letters one week because he ran out of stamps and couldn't get to the NEX to buy more. Better to have too many than not enough.Us mommas (and girlfriends/wives) need those letters to keep sane.
