WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

FTLW, that's for the info, it's much much appreciated! It's nice to see that you are the wife of a reservist - something I will be soon enough! My fiance is going as a reserve, so I surely wonder what kind of life style that entails...as I know there's always the risk of deployment - and of course the usual 2 weeks away a year, which is barely nothing compared to this boot camp business. Does your husband do his one weekend a month? That's what I was told from my fiance - that his schedule once he returns home after A School will be one weekend a month at his base. I know it could be more - but I'm just curious how the reservist lifestyle differs from active...i know there's a difference.

Moving on...
As you can see your recruits arrived over a weeks span of time...so different amount of P days.
All will PIR on 11/09...but not all of the divisions are on the same Training days. Brother divisons are...and possibly two sets of Brother Divisions are on the same training day (Day of Training...DOT). Right now they are in various stages of Training week 1...the earlier divisions possibly week two.
In your next letter ask your SR to wrote the DOT next to the real time date. Then you will have a marker...until then it is just a "guestimate".
Please see this post for the day- to - day weekly schedule. Links and videos.

No worries and no one is odd either...(sigh) it is all very different...believe me even after 28 years as a reservist wife...
It's like we're in...but not...at the same time. I only "know" active duty when my husband has been deployed or did his two weeks every year. He always did more though...schools, training, eventually as he gained rank you are handling more responsibility and time put in.
I'm the type that "likes to know" as well, helps me feel connected in his absences...but then my husband has been very good at including me in his lifestyle...wants me there as much as possible. The hardest part about deployment was I could not...cannot...ever "walk where he walked"...couldn't be there while he went through it. Letters, packages, emails were it...then the wait every three days this last time in the hopes he would get to call home or be able to get on a computer. Sometimes it would be a week...and he was on an air base (he is Security Forces NCO)...I know darn well that there are plenty of other jobs throughout our military where this can be much, much longer for many.
There is always "adjusting" to do it seems...but then hey, life would sure be boring!
I am on my phone so this is a bit laborious...sorry. I'll post in another about days at BC.
Comment by Juliette on September 26, 2012 at 3:16pm

yeah...sorry, i'm completely new to the military lifestyle, therefore i guess I'm one of the odd ones out with a "different" perspective on boot camp life.

Thanks FTLW, sorry to have offended anyone, perhaps the phrasing of my question was inappropriate.  Will let everyone know if I receive a letter.

Ladies...emotions are high in the beginning...and again near the end of BC. It gets a little better after "first contact". We all have different personalities...perspectives and approaches to this new adventure. Many of you are brand new to the military...some may be very familiar...all have a vested interest...your recruit.
All questions are valid and all will be answered to the best of our abilities.

Not trying to be defensive, I don't know maybe because I grew up with this I think about it differently, the Navy knows what it is doing, they have been training civilians into sailors for a long time, there is no promises as far as calls or letters, the sooner that they get it together as a division the sooner they get privliges. Yes I would love to hear his voice every night about how his day was, but my son is not a baby, he can handle this and I will no matter what do what I need to do to support him and keep it together so he has no worries about home.  Sorry to offend anyone but they are very safe in Great Lakes, how about some prayers for the ones that are deployed and potentially in harms way, said this yesterday, they are safer there then they were driving while at home!

Karen, if I said something to offend you please except my apology.......  Sorry........

:( we are here for one another (LOVE) not to offend anyone.

Comment by Juliette on September 26, 2012 at 2:55pm

karen, no reason to get defensive - and nobody said you didn't care enough to know about your son - relax, we're all in this together! I'm just trying to figure out his week to week so I can have an understanding of what he's doing....nobody is getting a minute by minute detail of their boot camp life - it's not such a crime to try and figure out when their training weeks start. That's all we were trying to do here! Time to move on i suppose? ...

Comment by GodFavorMe(TreMom)NORFOLK on September 26, 2012 at 2:50pm

I agree with you Juliette and Tehlilone. The pir doesn't really matter to me. It just taken one day at a time knowing what our love one is doing or face day to day. That helps me so I can thank God and pray for my recruits and other recruits daily.
