WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I also care enough about my son.  He left 9/11 the same day his grandfather swore into the Navy, 74 years later, from my estimation he should be beginning week 3, as to when to expect letters and phone calls?  This is the NAVY nothing is guaranteed and they and us knew that when they signed their contract.  Take any calls or letters as a gift.  Sorry to have upset anyone with not understanding the need for minute by minute details!

I think everyone is just curious about what week their SR is on....I don't know about you, but it's nice to kind of know and be updated on what they might be going through during this week and onto the following ones. Maybe that's just me? I care enough to know.....telling me his PIR date means nothing. I'd like to be somewhat aware of his day to day.

I don't think it matters but it gives us an idea of where they are in training, what they're doing, and how soon we should expect regular letters and/or phone calls if they're granted any.

Comment by karens (alumni ship 13-Div 366) on September 26, 2012 at 2:41pm

Ok, think I lost the point of the conversation here, if we all got a form letter stating that their PIR date was 11/9 does it matter what day of training they or on or am I totally not getting something?

Comment by tehlilone (Ship 12 Div 371) on September 26, 2012 at 2:39pm

I've been wondering how fast they go through P-Week. My fiance seems to have gotten pushed through that really quickly. He was supposed to leave on 9/18 but they pushed his date up to 9/17. He then left the same day he arrived at MEPs (I know most people stay in a hotel for the night). He got to GL at around 10:00 PM PDT on 9/17. His mom got his box of clothes and letter on 9/24 saying his PIR date is 11/9. He's in Ship 12 Div 371. If they did his P-week in 1 day/night, the earliest they would've started actual training would be 9/18.

I don't think they always start on Monday. My son's first day was a Thursday so I think it just depends on when the division was formed though I might be wrong.

Comment by GodFavorMe(TreMom)NORFOLK on September 26, 2012 at 2:22pm

@juliette my understanding it started Monday the 17th. On the day by day what your recruit should be doing it said that they will send out form letter. So I looked at when my letter was posted and it was the 17. So today they should be on 2nd week 3rd day. If I am right. Be bless!!!

Question for Veteran Moms:  Mail just came, no letter from my SR but something from the Navy Federal Credit Union, I opened it as he told me to do with any of his mail and handle it if I could, this was to open his savings and checking account at the end of the form it says it is below CU standards of a 5.00 balance and enclosed a deposit slip, should I deposit money there or is it ok to wait for him to get paid?

Comment by Juliette on September 26, 2012 at 2:05pm

ok wait now i'm confused LOL....so...if our SR's entered boot camp on 9/12....their first week of actual training was on 9/19? As i assume the first five days, weekend not included, were their P days?

Comment by diannep on September 26, 2012 at 1:36pm

Just remember that bootcamp weeks/days are different than training weeks/days.
