They have only been in training a week, I don't think we will hear anything until late next week .
deboraho: I agree with what FTLW wrote you...great info.
This happens often. My son was asmoed (setback) for a week when there, but was told it would be two weeks. He gave me a new PIR date when he called to tell me this (his delay was because he saw that a shipmate had obtained a phone number from a female (fraternization----not allowed) and didn't report it to the RDCs). However, just a week later, he called me to tell me that he had resumed training and was now in PIR ___ Div ___. Just a week after his original date, and a week before his next supposedly new date. So he wasn't kept the 2 weeks, just 1.
They usually come out of being asmoed much more ready and stronger, so I'm sure this will happen for your SR also. Lots of prayer that he is working hard (I'm sure he will be) and will be back to training soon! It is great that they provide the extra help for all of the SRs who struggle with "whatever" rather than releasing them. They really want them to become sailors!
diannep : The sub school he has to go to he referred to it as C school and after 7 weeks there he will go to A school in Kings Bay for 10 months he could be mistaken what its called i dont know.
deboraho - First, I am glad that he sounded like he is doing good!
You SR just needs some more time for his academics it seems. They are retaining him...he is just being "set back" (it's called ASMO or Assignment Memorandum) in his training. He will get the extra help he needs for his academics and then he will be recycled back into a new Division and he will have a new PIR date.
Yes, this does happen sometimes...(it can happen for various other reasons as well. ASMO only happens to individuals not whole divisions as I stated earlier).
He will go into FAST -Fundamental Applied Skills Training.
You will not recieve another Form Letter...your recruit will have to give you the new Division and PIR date. OR it will be possible after he completes FAST to call PAO for that info. PLEASE keep your original Form Letter...you will need the original password to give to APO to get the new password for the Vehile Gate Pass. This is the only time that PAO gives out password info.
You know...I do not know the Ship Div number for FAST (they have Ship and Div for this I believe...even though it is a temporary place for a recruit.)
I would call PAO and ask about this as it does look like a two week program...to find out where to write to him. Phone: Public Affairs Office 847-688-2405
Please watch this video (start at 8:24 minutes until the end) and it will explain about FAST for you.
