deboraho - Not to worry. He is going for extra academic instruction. It will delay his PIR, so you will have to wait for his new date. He will let you know. His mailing address will change. Again, he will let you know but in the meantime you can write him using the address that was on the form letter. They will get his mail to him. :)
Forgot the link to RTC website:
And now that I have clogged up the Main Wall for today one last one.
Letters and CALLS!
I'm sorry I'd have to read back if anyone got the lucky first real letter before everyone else...but if I calculate correctly, this next Sunday will be the first real day that your recruits may be able to write home. Nothing is ever guaranteed and some things may come early! Woo-Hoo if they do!.
That first Sunday during P days some may not have made it to there Compartments yet. I think the earliest arrival date I have seen for this TG is 9/11. The first Sunday in their Compartment (Week 1 of DOT) they do not have "Holiday time", (just too busy)...the five hours of "Free time" ,(that is if everything they are supposed to have done is done AND they may need the time to study etc. Ironing is always "waiting...it is mostly done in the middle of the night though!), so it's the second Sunday in their Compartment when Holiday time first happens.
Your first call ( besides Security Calls) may not come until after Training week 2-3...so three to four weeks after arrival. I know this is rough but they are very busy and trying to "get on line" as a Division. It can be a very emotional call...and as we all know emotions can "get in the way" sometimes! So I am guessing that the RDC's may "judge" this for their Divisions. Also, phone time has to be scheduled in. The phone room is large enough but not so that it can accomodate hundreds of recruits at the same time! (If you go to the NEX on RTC it is down the hall on the way to Recruit Heaven...I took a quick peek!)

This excerpt is from the RTC Family Guide:
Pass-In-Review Access List:
Recruits are permitted to place up to four names on the
access list. If the names in the form letter are different
than the guests attending, please coordinate with your
Recruit as only Recruits may place names on the list.
RTC can neither change these names nor release the
names of those on the list.
Children age 12 and younger do not need to be listed on
the access list and will not count toward the maximum
number of guests.
Active Duty and Retired military personnel will not
count toward the maximum number of guests, and do
not need to be listed on the access list, but must present a
valid Active Duty/Retired military ID card.

This is from the RTC Websites FAQ's: (link to the site: http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/families.asp )
Q.
How many guests per recruit are allowed to attend Pass-In-Review?
A.
+/-
Recruits are permitted to place up to four names on the access list. Please coordinate with your Recruit as only Recruits may place names on the list. RTC can neither change these names nor release the names of those on the list. Children age 12 and younger do not need to be listed on the access list and will not count toward the maximum number of guests. Active Duty and Retired military personnel will not count toward the maximum number of guests and do not need to be listed on the access list, but must present a valid Active Duty/Retired military ID card. The four guests on the access list will be admitted into the ceremonial drill hall first. Additional guests not on the access list will have to wait inside the Visitor Center until after the start of the ceremony at which time they will be allowed into the ceremonial hall if additional seating is available as space permits. No additional seating can be guaranteed. All guests 18 years and older, must present valid government issued photo identification (driver’s license, state ID card, passport, military ID card). Guests 17 years or younger who do not possess one the items listed above must present one of the following: school ID card, driver’s permit, copy of their birth certificate or social security card. PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS.
Q.
When will I receive tickets/passes to graduation?
A.
+/-
There are no actual tickets or passes. Recruits list the names of up to four guests that will be included on the access list. Recruits cannot obtain additional “tickets” from other recruits.
Q.
I am not sure I am on the access list. Can you find out and make changes if I am not?
A.
+/-
It is the recruit’s decision whom to place on the access list. Please communicate with your recruit well before the final week of training to be sure the right names are on the list. The Public Affairs Office does not have a copy of the access list as they names on the list are not divulged to the public. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation.
Bocaestupida(I have to ask? Stupid mouth?? :-) LOL) - I would say "average" would be 9...if I had to pick one!
Here goes:
Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall can handle up to 16 Divisions and their four guaranteed guests. When we had a 14 Divison PIR, RTC posted a statement about "extra" possibly guests not getting seated. I do know that LaLa's Sailor had 13 divisions graduating and all of her extra guests got in.
That being said (as far as large PIR's like 14 +) there are some who just want to be there...they understand that they may not get in but want to be there with their loved one and celebrate with them! So they take the chance.
Procedure is that, the four alloted guests will enter and the extras will get their ID squared away and be directed to wait in the Visitors Center (the USS Yorktown). Guests are asked to be seated by 8:45 at which time they will allow the extras into Midway Hall. Many times, they do not have to wait but are allowed right in...usually with smaller sized TG's.
You may print extra Vehicle Gate Passes and fill them out for other cars in your party. However, please do not give out the Confidential Password you received on your Form Letter for your extra guests to do so...as it is...well...confidential! LOL It may seem like a "small" thing...but again OPSEC. RTC is a closed base, so that gate pass says that you have been given the permission to bring your vehicle on it. All vehicles are subject to inspection...doesn't happen to all...but to some randomly. It takes a few minutes...so not to worry.
Recruits finalize their original PIR access list a couple of weeks before PIR.
Boot Camp Days ~ How to Count them...
Boot Camp is anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks (longer around Holiday time in Nov to Jan), actual weeks of time there. This is all generic and based on an "ideal" scenario of 8 weeks.
ALL Divisions within a TG have the same PIR date...BUT not all of the Divisions within a TG are on the same Training Day. That is because they are not all formed on the same day and well...room! They can't have all of the divisions PTing or in a classroom at the same time. The USS Trayer (the Ship Simulator for Battlestations 21) can only hold up to 4 Divisions and their Instructors.
In addition, the PIR date will not change as a division. Whole divisions are not "set back" or "asmo'd" (Assignment Memorandum) in training. This is only done on an individual basis from what we have seen. (Do not worry about this...I say that because I know you will! I did!...Have faith mommas!) The RTC Family Guide (clickable link that will take you there) states this:
"While a division’s graduation date will not change, an individual Recruit’s graduation date may change based on performance, which is why we suggest families purchase refundable tickets when possible."
(Though we do have to "disagree" with the recommendation to purchase refundable tickets...3 times the cost! Sorry RTC! Besides, all of your recruits will graduate on time right?!)
Here is a link to the RTC Website. It is good to take a look around the Families section..and anything else! You can't "do" anything wrong over there so just be bold and click tabs and links!. If you get" lost" and can't find something you just read, just click the "back" button on your computer.
When I find something I like I Bookmark it or save it to Favorites on my Computer. Most times I will make a new Folder so I can find it in my Favorites easier as well.
skyler: Your sailor will be going going directly to "C" school, no "A" school????
Boca....YES, bring the extras. This is considered a large PIR group, but we have seen ones with 14 divisions get extras in. So bring them!
Soupercook - Your Dad is right! We love it when you ask questions.
TG 52 means Training Group 52. 12 Divisions means that there are 12 divisions that make up the whole TG and they all graduate on 11/09/2012.
So...how about we take that a little further? Cuz that's what I do.
The military Fiscal year starts with Oct. 1 and ends with Sept 31. The first TG of the year will be 01 (in fact it will be the one after this TG). TG "numbers" may be skipped if RTC skips a week of PIR...but it all "works out in the wash"! So far, TG always start with an odd numbered Division as the first division...like yours...363. So 363 and 364 are Brother Divisions.
Regular numbered Divisions go in Consecutive order starting with 001 at the beginning of the Military Fiscal Year (Oct 1). Regular Divisions are paired up in "Brother" divisions. They will train together and go through Battlestations together.
800's start with 801 at the beginning of the Fiscal Year and continue on consecutively when they have them. They do not have an 800 Division every PIR. 800 Divisions are for those with SPECOP (SPECial OPerations) contracts. If there is more than one then they will be Brother Divisions.
900's start with 901 at the beginning of the Fiscal Year and continue consecutively each TG/PIR (Training Group/Pass-in-Review=Graduation) It will have a 900 Division of 952. There is almost always a 900 Division every PIR. Last year they did not have one for the April 1, 2011 PIR. (Was that an April Fools?!) Sometimes there can be two or even three if RTC skips a week of PIR. One of them will reflect the TG number. If there is more than one then they will be Brother Divisions.
