Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by ProudStepMom (Ship 11 DIV 364) on September 23, 2012 at 2:45pm: Just booked our room at the Residence inn - 1 bedroom suite $129/nite. Not bad to have the extra sitting area with fridge etc! Mapquest from our house - 5 hours 20min drive time.

I have tried to look at pics on the fb page. I hope to catch a glimpse of my son. Anxiously awaiting a letter or phone call.

Comment by diannep on September 23, 2012 at 2:00pm: Nigel'sMom: Is your SR staying in GL for A School? If so, try to stay until Monday then because those sailors should have weekend daytime liberty (I don't believe they have to be back to base until 9 or 10 at night).

That was one good thing about driving you had a lot more freedom to decide to stay or head home whenever you wanted :-) But it sure was a long drive from NC and I know a lot further from other places.
