Ladies ~ My hubby is Ret. USN and he says please refrain from sending any mail that stands out, just stick with the basics. He says not to send any type of large envelopes, magazines, newspapers or packages. If there is something you want to send from a newspaper, clip it out. Also, he states that some mail has been known to previewed, so use discretion in what you write. The simplest things can create grief for your SR.
MarkelleGohr - My SR is in Div 369 (brother div of 370). godfavoredme70 has an SR in 370.
O'Hare is an "international" hub, so there's more nonstop flights. Midway is much smaller (3 terminal) airport. Though they are busy, they are much easier to get in and out. I couldn't get a cheaper flight for my folks to Midway. For them O'Hare (non-stop) was cheaper.
mommom: Sounds like she had very kind RDCs! Most have to do push ups or some other exercise until the "singing" card runs out...
Milwaukee airport is much easier than OHare, karens. So consider going that route. Milwaukee is about a 45 minute drive to GL...straight interstate, no traffic. The only thing to remember is that if your sailor will be flying out and you plan on an airport visit, they will fly from either OHare or Midway, probably on Saturday. So if you plan a visit there with your sailor, you may want to book your flight back from Milwaukee either that night or even on Sunday. We always recommend that you all book through Sunday if possible because flights for your sailors can change and you may get more time with them.
Also, car rental is cheaper in Milwaukee.
Does anyone know why flights into O'hare are more expensive than to MKE? they are the same miles away from the base but not sure what to do, is it easy to get to the base from MKE?
Hi Mom-don't send a musical card. Very nice thought but embarrasment will ensue!
@diannep THANK YOU for info... Good to know the odds are "for him". We just wish he would have prepared better physically. He should have the academic stuff down being in ROTC for 4 years.
@soupercook we are coming from SE Michigan. I believe it will be about a 5 hour drive. It will be the longest 5 hours of my life im sure! I guess my concern comes from him not having a plan B.. he put all his eggs in one basket and im not sure he sat on them long enough but I am going to have faith that im just being my usual controlling worry wort and give this one to God!
