WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am trying to hang in there... my son left on 9/11 from Boston, I got the box on the 18th, no letter yet.  The neighbors must think I've gone insane, since i am at the mail box everyday :)  I can't stand it!!  I need an address for all the letters i've written and cards... the family also wants the address and most of all i want to make flight and hotel plans...ugh   so frustrated.  ..thanks for a place to vent! LOL

Good morning all.

These first few weeks of bootcamp are so hard....for them and for you!  The lack of contact is quite an adjustment.  But just know that once they are in A School and have their cells/laptops, contact is back!  YAH!  But bootcamp is good training for when they may be deployed on a ship and there are long periods of no contact.

Just know that the Navy is taking very good care of your SRs.  They are being fed well, exercised, trained, making great friendships, watched over medically, etc.  It is nice to know that they are safe inside of RTC!

It sure will seem long, the days drag by but the weeks pass quickly. before you know it you will be packing to go to PIR and then it won't seem like it took that long at all. :-) We are all here for you and we will help you through this.

Hi everyone, I am Lala aka the PIR Ribbon Queen. I'm from NC and I have two Sailors. A daughter, 22, who is an AO in VA; she had PIR in July, 2010 and her hubby (my SIL) also 22 who is an IT in VA and his PIR was Oct 2010. We have experienced lots of different things through this journey and I am here to help you in any way I can. If you have any questions at all please ask them here on this page and one of us will do our best to answer it for you. I often get messages from people who either have not been accepted to this website yet so they can't post comments or they are just to shy at this point to say anything yet. So, you can send me a private message if you like and I will do my best to help you.My email address is uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com You can also click on my name or picture and it will take you to my page and then you can click add as a friend or send a message

. My Sailor was in the performing division 936 and was in the choir. For now the best advice is to write letters every day if you can. Even if your SR said not to, do it anyway. They quickly change their mind and love hearing their name called for mail call. It is like Christmas to them and they say the letters are what gets them through the next day. Try not to worry if the first couple of letters seem down or sad. This is normal and it does get better. You will be able to tell a difference in them with each letter you receive. I know this is hard but be strong, you can do this. And on the days when you feel like you can't do this just come to this page and we will help you through it :-) I know you are looking forward to those first letters and calls :-) And I look forward to getting to know all of you and hearing more about your soon to be Sailors :-)
