OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just got back from Great Lakes, I don't think I can describe how it felt at PIR! Cried with patriotic pride and pride in not just my son but all of those amazing young people who graduated as US Navy Sailors! When Liberty was called I rushed down the bleachers wondering how I would find him, but he was standing at the bottom waiting for me, I tried to get the words Congratulations out but couldn't but that first Sailor Hug is one that I will never forget. Spent about six hours with him Friday, then met him at O'hare at 4 am until he flew out at 8:45 am. Saying "See ya later, Sailor" was ok, not like the horrible feeling of leaving him at MEPS, he was anxious to get to South Carolina and begin his new journey, my boy is a man now and ALL NAVY!

I just got back from PIR.  WOW, wasn't that amazing.  I just wish I could have brought him back with me.  House seems empty, eventhough I have one more son here.  His pictures were here when I got back, but I haven't opened them yet.  I forgot to ask if he wants me to.  It was hard to let go when it was time for him to leave.  They all looked so proud standing there.

Congatulations to all the new sailors. It was great to see such a large turn out and I hope everyone got to spend some quality time with their young men and women. Don't they just make you soooooo proud?

Jenny0515 - You need to meet your Sailor and have them go with you to the carrier they are flying with. Make sure you have ID (just like for PIR). They have to be with you in order to get the pass.

Your Sailors will check in and if you do not meet them when they arrive they will head to the USO.

USO locations at airports: Only O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW) have USO centers, the airport in Milwaukee (MKE) does not. The USO at O'Hare is located OUTSIDE of the secured area in Terminal 2 above the Delta Airlines Ticket counter - so anyone can access it. The USO at Midway Airport is located INSIDE of the secured area in Concourse C - you must have a boarding pass or courtesy pass to get beyond TSA security area. Both USO's are open 24/7.
