UPDATE on EXTRA GUESTS for PIR
While Extra guests were never a guarantee...RTC had information in place that allowed for the possibility of additional guests entering PIR. Because of this information we have always seen extra guests make it into PIR when there was seating available.
Sadly, yes, this has now changed.
I have made a Forum Discussion for the N 4M's site that shows the old info and the new info. Here is the direct link showing the chanegs:
EXTRA GUESTS - Will NO LONGER BE ALLOWED into the GRADUATION (PIR) ...
karens - Thank you for your input on that. We cannot stress that enough and your opinion is most welcome.
Loved One's of SR's, wanted to voice an opinion that may not be popular but am compelled to say. There are facebook sites not associated with N4M's but deal with boot camp, that are posting names of SR's. Facebook and the internet are global and available to anyone. Our SR's are safe at BC for now, but will be in the fleet at some point, their security, their shipmates security and this countries security is at risk. I was raised with "loose lips sink ships" which was due to my dad's service in the Navy prior to WW II and after. I know I don't want my SR's name out there floating in cyberspace, nor his deployments or arrivals and hope others will honor the same. We are all proud and want to scream from the rooftops our SR's accomplishments but please not on the internet. Just my thoughts.
MONKEYSMOM: Look above and to the right under the "PAGES" section. Under the members photo box. You will see a topic about the flags they can earn in bootcamp. Just click on it.
*they* not *the*
JennyM'sMom: Yes, we saw that also and thought it to be very confusing. I hope people continue with plans to take their extras...just in case. The worst that can happen is that they can't get in, but will get time with their sailor after PIR. But hoping that they can get in....
Soupercook: You will be sitting in division sections. Is this person in the same division? You don't HAVE to sit in your division, but it is recommended since your sailor will be right in front of you. Maybe you could save some seats for each other and make sure you have cell numbers to stay in touch, and just meet in the PIR Hall.
Yes, dress warmly. Layers is a great idea!
KwajMom: Actually the 10/26 group (7 divisions) was told they cannot have extras---they knew they weren't guaranteed to get in, but the PAO told them the won't get in. Many in that group called the Public Affairs Office and were told no. We don't understand that as that group only has 7 divisions. So...something is going on right now up there....we are trying to determine if this is policy for all future groups...or just large groups...but why would they tell ladies in a PIR group of just 7 divisions that they can have no extras???? Hoping for more "concrete" info from them soon. They have already posted that the Nov 30th group will have 15 divisions (largest number of divisions ever) and there will be no extras allowed. This was posted on RTC FB.
Good Morning All!
Good morning everyone, I will be away most of the day but I will check back in this afternoon, I hope everyone has a wonderful day :-)
I thought the same thing Jenny, That is why I think they will still let extras in when they have room. I will continue to think that until they make a decision and post it.
