Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by karens (alumni ship 13-Div 366) on October 22, 2012 at 6:58pm: ftlw, The day of PIR I and my two family members are picking up the fiancee of one of the SR's in my sons div, at her hotel and driving her to PIR with us, she is on her fiancees list, has her password, that is ok right? or do I need to have her download her parking pass?

Comment by diannep on October 22, 2012 at 5:44pm: Ladies, there is chat on the PIR 10/26 group that several contacted the Public Affairs Office today and were told that extras will no longer be allowed into PIR. If your name is not on your sailor's guest list of 4, you cannot attend PIR. This is a change in policy and very sad. Although RTC has never guaranteed that the "extras" will get in (they only guarantee the 4 on the list), they have always said to bring them if you like, and they may have to wait, but they would most likely get into the hall. That has changed now.

We still recommend that your extras go...to spend time with your sailors after PIR...be sure to order the PIR DVD ($29) after PIR at the NEX if your sailor didn't order it. At least you can share that with your extras once you receive it in the mail.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 22, 2012 at 5:09pm: For all of you who will be meeting your Sailors at the Airport I just posted a Fight Info Card in the discussions above. You can print it out and ask your recruit to keep it and fill it out when they get their flight info. Then after PIR when they go back to their ship before leaving with you they can grab it and give it to you. That way you have all the correct info for meeting them at the airport. You don't want to end up at the wrong one because they couldn't remember.
