This is the link to the TV interview in Jacksonville on Friday with Brett's brother/father. Brett is a miracle, but still critical...challenges each day for him (still sedated). Thanks so much for your prayers!
Mary123, Awww, thank you! I just feel that it is so much harder on our
SR's, they are learning to serve our country in the greatest Navy in the world, we are just missing them. I tear up every day over something that reminds me of him, but then I say a prayer, silently send him a hug and a kiss and hope he feels that I am here, covering him with love and support. They need us as much as we need them, how proud are we all going to be standing there watching our babies who are now men and women in the US Navy,? Hope I get to meet you and lots of other families at PIR and thank you for your kind words.
karens - you really have a way with words. I had a bad weekend and am having a worse day today. I have two SR's at BC and my hubby left this morning for 2 months. I haven't heard from my SR that has been there since 9/11 but twice, one letter, one call and the other SR is just at 3 weeks, but I think he'll contact GF and I'm just having a pity party. I just about have all arrangements for both PIR's I think that was part of my bad weekend, very stressful. After reading your post, I feel better. Just venting feels better. Your words are beautiful. Thank you.
Sorry to post this question again but I can't find where the answerer is. My son registered to vote before he left in August. Will there be an absentee ballot provided, or am I supposed to print one out and mail it? There was a link somewhere.... Thanks for any help
Usually a week before PIR. They do forward the mail to their A School, but sometimes the letters don't get there. If you write later than that, copy the letters and take them to PIR with you in case they didn't arrive.
BJ: As far as the extras, we have always told people to take them. There has only been one time when extras were told they couldn't get in...with a PIR group that had 14 divisions recently. RTC FB posted that they would not get in...but in most groups, the extras get in. So it is worth a try for sure to bring your extra person!
Welcome, BJ! Glad you found us.
The MeetandGreet info is at the top of this page. Just click on the link under the yellow smiley faces. Once there, you will see that there are 3 different ones---click on the one you like. Sarge's is the one we recommend.....because he is full of info. All are family friendly...bring the kids! Food is served too....we have heard Sarge's has really good food (food is free but he accepts donations....he pays for this each week out of his own pocket). He has a transportation service for anyone needing transportation during PIR weekend...to/from airport and around town. He is retired military and beloved by the sailors on the GL A School base.
Here's his number if anyone wants to contact him about his transportation service or to ask questions. Text or call anytime: 847-212-0246
Please RSVP to the MeetandGreet that you plan to attend so they can judge food amounts. Once on the page of the MeetandGreet you are going to, you will see a place to RSVP up top on the right.
Welcome! At the sidebar you will see Sarges Meet & Greet. Besides a few others. Just click on which ever one your interested & decide. Once you have decided just R.S.V.P. I understand that Sarges is the one to go to. Good Luck!
Got a pretty awesome phone call from my SR today. It was a good long one too!! She even had to hunt me down to get me lol. Now I have two messages on my phone I can just replay when I want to hear her voice:)
