Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks so much to each of you for continuing to pray!

By the way, I spoke to his mom today, my good friend. The Navy showed up in mass yesterday, in uniform, from the "top commander down"....what a presence they made to the family. They were so grateful. Gotta love the Navy Family!

Comment by karens (alumni ship 13-Div 366) on October 19, 2012 at 8:22am: Diannep, I don't believe what religion you are matters, but I happen to be catholic, told our priest yesterday about Bret, and what happened, he told the senior ladies rosary group, announced it on the website for prayers, so this brave young man and his family have lots of prayers from Pa. Know that all the families on this site are doing the same. Keep us posted.

Jodi, Brett is holding his own. Faces his 3rd surgery in just 36 hours today....sigh...but this one is the least dangerous of the 3. Hopefully the final one to repair damage in his abdomen...first surgery was to stop massive bleeding, 2nd to repair artery damage to right leg and get blood going to it again, and now the final the final one to "tweek" the abdominal damage. He is a fighter, no doubt! Hanging in there. The guy who shot him was 22 yrs old...he is in jail, thank goodness.

Thanks so much for continued prayers, Ladies! I let his mom know late last night about how wonderful all have been on here about praying for him. Thanks so much!
