Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by atxmom on October 18, 2012 at 11:39pm: Sundown- This letter was short compared to the 2 to 3 pgs he has been sending. Last week he wrote separate letters to all three of us at home because he was recovering from wisdom teeth removal. Just one letter this week; 1 1/2 pgs in length.

I'm also sending out prayers for Brett and his family.

Comment by hansumsgirl93 on October 18, 2012 at 10:40pm: ok...apologies for not being savvy enough to know who is who here, i am sooo ADD online - but i got a letter from my girl & the "hi" i sent thru a member on this site and it got to her! said it was really cool, so thanks bunches! the delay of messages is so weird. im overnighting tomorrow's correspondence, can't take the chance on snail mail this go round, only 21 days left...yaaayyyy is right!

Comment by diannep on October 18, 2012 at 9:46pm: For info on earning the different flags and what they mean, look up above and to the right in the PAGES section under the MEMBERS picture box. 2nd from the bottom is the one: Flags and Pennants that your DIV can earn while at BC.

It is all explained there.
