Anndrya, what a lucky man your SR is, you are an amazing person who will do your SR proud, while achieving your own goals. Proud to know you!
jenny, yes same for me! i write all throughout the day! my letters everyday are at least 4 pages lol he asked me to tell him everything about my days so I tell him everything and keep him updated as possible.same here! I miss him dearly and everyday that passes I miss him even more its very hard to be without him but I have to do what I have to do to support him no matter how hard it is. Its not about us you know, they are the ones going through it so we just have to do our best to stand strong for them and be proud! =) i would never tell him not to chase his goals. I have a strong belief that everyon was given their own life to live and who am I to step in and say sorry cant do it because of me lol im very proud of him! =)
diannep, I agree, the older two sons have moved in and out at various times, as somewhat "adults" but now my 33yr old is married "hit the daughter in law lottery with my wonderful girl", 30 year old middle son, just bought a house, but spent lots of time moving in and out for the past couple of years. So main goal is they always know where home is.
...should add that he is also continuing work on his Bachelors Degree (had his Associates degree already) courtesy of the GI Bill so that is good!
Anndrya, I totally agree with you! For those who said that they felt that their letters were becoming less interesting and such, I have to say I haven't felt that way. I write every single day, at different times of the day, and I still find that I have so much to say. It may be because he's such a part of me that everything is important and I've never been so proud of his decision no matter how much I miss him. It's going to be hard but we chose this life together and we chose to stay that way. I could see it being different for moms just because they've been with their child for so long but we just started our time! I'm thankful for the mothers who support their sons/daughters and their choices because without them, our relationship would be nothing.
- Does anyone have an extra bed in their hotel or anything? His mother isn't going to stay and I want to but it's just so expensive! I would pay for the extra space is you would like!
karens: Think they will never live at at home again??? Hmmm.....mine is now out of the Navy....and after a short "stint" in TX -- is now "living back home!" So ....never say never! By the way, he doesn't want to be living back home....but couldn't find a job in TX. He just got a job down here, so is happy and eventually will move out again (but not for a while). By the way, I had an "empty nest" for almost 2 yrs...then my older son had to move back home a year ago.
Hard times out there....so keep the "light on" for returning children! :-)
I think for us Moms, we miss our children and know they will never live at home again, but isn't that why we worked so hard to raise intelligent, independent children? Think for the wives, fiancees out there it is harder for them to have active sailors who could and will be out at sea for months at a time. 8 weeks at bootcamp is just a small time compared to what a deployment will be to them. Bless those who are supportive of their loved ones desire to serve our country and who selflessly give of themselves to be there for our sailors and keep the homefires burning
My daughter is reserves. It works out well for her because she also wanted to go to college. So now she can do both. She has said though if she doesn't like college she may try to go active.
