WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My husband asked me," Where are we going to go for sightseeing?" I told him I am good with staring at my SR. lol! I really have no idea. We are from California where 30 mins from everything from beach, mountians and theme parks. I would like to see something they do not have over here. Any ideas???

FL driving laws (insurance too!) are pretty tough.  My son found out that if you get a ticket as a FL driver in another state, nothing you can do to get the points off (no drivers school, court hearing, etc).  UGH!  Are other states like that?

o yeah I forgot about the cell.  Yep that was the case for daughter cell too.  That was really her only bill.  so they stopped it for her until she is done.  They will restart her service once she is done bc when she calls.  They will also do for deployments.

Putting the cell on "military leave" is a great thing, Sundown.  Anything to save some $$!

Mary123:  You may want to give SARGE a call for transportation needs for that weekend.  He is wonderful!  847 212-0246  He also has a very informative MeetandGreet the night before PIR, open to all family members!

karens, you GO GIRL!  Age-wise, I'm right there with ya.  Yes, electronic devices can be a bit challenging, but we are women, hear us ROAR!  You can do it!  :-)  But have to say, my then-25 yr old son accompanied me for my younger son's....and I loved having his company.  Our sailor flew out the next day and we weren't flying home until Sunday, so we had a good time sightseeing...

Good Morning ladies! I always miss the morning talks but i am here today! I kept our SR on his health insurance. Our health insurance only allows twice a year changes. My SR got his Drivers License two days before BC. I didn't even start him on insurance. No one has mentioned Cell phone. I put my SR's cell on Military leave for BC. His cell phone provider said you can do it for BC and then I can give the cell back to him after PIR and start it back up with one phone call.

Isn't it wonderful to hear us all sooooooooo excited, proud and ready to have some time with our "Sailors" by that time.  Think the hanger is big enough to hold so many PROUD family members?

Me toooooooo!!!!   We live in Northern California so driving wasn't an option.  The extra time off work it would take to drive made the airline more affordable but as you said I would walk all the way on hot coals if I had to.  HAHA

Comment by ProudNavyMom (Ship 14 Div 367) on October 16, 2012 at 10:39am

1proudmomma that is funny lol lol lol.  You will be fine on the plane.  Try and get some rest.  We will be driving 12 hours.  We are renting a car, but we will have one when we get there, and it is 4 of us, so flying was way our of the budget.  But like I said before if I had to hike on foot, and sleep on the grass or in the car I WILL be there with bells on.  SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!
