WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

yeah hansumsgirl93 thank goodness other states not that way.  Agent said she covered just by us giving her authorization to drive our vehicle, under the full coverage policy, so she would be good if anything happened.  Weird how that is from state to state.

Good morning girls,  I am with you on the car insurance.  My son is a $1200 a year kid.  Dropped him the moment he was on the plane.  HAHA.  It sounds like everybody is ready for PIR.  Pray for me.  I am not a flyer and besides having a 5 hour flight I will be flying with my 16 year old son who has never flown before and I think will have a nice case of temporary ADHD on the plane. LOL

re: auto insurance

NC must just be odd - i tried to remove her from our auto policy, but was told she had to maintain coverage unless she was deployed overseas - that to remove her from the policy she would have to turn in her NCDL & that would extend her 'inexprienced driver' status.  had planned to sell her truck anyway, so doing that dropped my premium; best i could do was make her an "occasional user" of the other vehicles. glad other states aren't as demanding.

yes I think lulovesjosh is absolutely correct.  should be a qualifying event, but rather than deal with the hassle probably easier just to leave, and for us we have family premium so no change by taking her off.  Just do what is easiest and most beneficial for you. We definitely know they are well taken care of so that is most important.

They are almost there!!!!!!!! Music to my ears 24 days...although seemed like forever went rather quickly!  Ever sooooooooooooooo PROUD.  I probably will cry the whole way driving to PIR!

We dropped the car insurance, same as ProudNavyMom it would be really easy to add back at any time (if he gets Christmas liberty, etc)  and are saving $120 per month.  However, left SR on health care for now as if he gets removed cannot be put back on until open enrollment the following year.  We've got family coverage so pay the same premium whether he's on health care or not.

Now I have not removed her from the health side, b/c I just wanted to leave until she completes bootcamp.  The auto is a little easier to deal with of course, and removing her will not change our premium or anything.

@karens that is too cute...LOL.  Those are the best trips though! The ones you get lost on.
