Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/09/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Cindi (Ship 11 Div 363) on October 16, 2012 at 7:36am: I was pleasantly surprised when I received a letter yesterday. I usually get it on Thursday's. They must be aloud to write more. He said it was getting easier he just missing his family.

Comment by karens (alumni ship 13-Div 366) on October 16, 2012 at 7:25am: The last letter I got was dated Oct 7, a Sunday, he said next day they were starting seamanship, so that is over, this week was weapons, next week would be fire fighting, then battlestations, not sure if they can or would know when they will actually do that, but "I'm a Sailor" is only a few weeks away!, My SR said they are really busy and tired all the time and that at first it was too hard to write because he was trying not to think of us, but our letters kept him going. If there was a problem she would call. Hang in there almost over.

Comment by Juliette on October 15, 2012 at 12:36pm: I can't lie though - I did run out of my office here at work to take the call and i almost had a heart attack lol - at this point, I'll be honest - I don't WANT any more calls...no calls, is good news....so it worried me as soon as I heard his voice...thankfully it was only for some paperwork he needed me to overnight - but yes, nonetheless, how ironic? so priceless though to just hear him speak :)
