Good Morning all!
tracd93, I can't wait to see my Sailor come off that ship and she will only have been gone about a month. i can't even imagine how excited I will be to be there for the homecoming when it has been 8 or 9 months :-)
Good evening everyone, so sorry I have been MIA so much this weekend. This is fall break for our daughter that is in college. So she is home this weekend and it is the first time we have seen her since dropping her off at UNCW in August. It is good having her home. Not sure how she likes her room now that I turned half of it into a craft room lol :-) At least she still has a bed hehe. She definitely likes being able to find all the craft stuff so easily. Tomorrow we are making decorations for her dorm room door halloween decoration contest. How could she loose with me to help her? lol
We also heard from our Sailor again, she is doing well, working 7 days a week but they did get to watch the GA/SC game last night although she was not happy with the outcome. I sent her a candygram on her ship :-) I can't wait until she gets it, she has no idea :-D
Thank you diannep! We plan on arriving very early, however lots of family coming. I just needed to know how long they'll be waiting at hotel since the may be be able to come in.
Just posted BattleStations info in the Discussion Forum above.
tracd93 and soupercook, we knew exactly where our son was standing in his division. We sat directly in front of our SR in the upper bleachers and we still had trouble finding him after the ceremony. His gf ran down with another girl ahead of us.(I forget to ask her how they found each other) but I know his dad, his best friend( in this div. 366) and I stood there like idiots looking around trying to find him. Of course I'm short so I couldn't see very far, haha. We did eventually find each other. I would suggest you ask your SR to meet you someplace i.e. against the back wall behind where they were standing etc just so you are both in the same area when you start looking.
9 - 10:30. But you need to be there long before 9! We recommend arriving between 6:30 and 7:30 Better seating choice then.
Does anyone know how long the graduation is? I know it starts at 9 am...
debzz: Oooops! She can't wear her own clothes when on liberty. She must stay in uniform all day. She still has to be in Navy clothing at A School until she phases up to wear her own clothes. But it doesn't take too long!
Well, my sailor is short so I didn't see him all during the ceremony. My older son and I decided to be "smart" (so we thought) and stand in the bleachers, let the "herd" run buy us to get to their sailors, and let our sailor find us. Backfired....after waiting for about 5 minutes...we realized we had better go find him. He was busy talking to some of his shipmates....what??? HA!
But I agree with ellen...you usually have no problem finding your sailors!
Good Morning!
Cindi: Until your sailors phase up to go off base, sometimes families can visit them on base. Wait for your sailor to go through Indoc at A School and tell you about that.
