A question for the one's who got calls yesterday, what time did the calls come through? Was it random or all around the same time?

If you all get calls where the connection is bad on the recruit's end, try having them push the phone cord into the handset and holding it there. I have a feeling that those cords have been stretched and twisted for so long that they are coming lose there. My son had the same problem when he called home a couple of times.

Devin'sMom: If you haven't booked your flights yet, you may want to reconsider those "refundable." I know the Navy suggests that, but I didn't do that...and I DID have to change them once. It still was a whole lot cheaper than refundable, because the price of the tickets came down (only had to pay $89 extra each on 2 tickets).

Yea to all who got letters or calls. Maybe Ship 02 Div 952 will get phone calls next week. I told my son in a letter to call his girlfriend when he gets to call. I am just happy with the letters. If he saves time for me great if not I am all right with that. Devin's mom I like the letter to yourself. We are all getting stronger in our own way. This is a very tough time for all of us. I just keep counting down the days with the clock till Nov 12.

Ugh...still nothing for me. No phone call or letter. In my next letter I'm going to send him a letter that I wrote to myself from him, self addressed/stamped envelope with a "sign here" tag so I can at least receive something :-) No crying today...been good since Monday...progress! Reservations made for rooms for PIR and booking my expensive, refundable / changeable tickets.

Thanks dianne for the reminder. Today has been a tough day for my daughter and I. I am not sure what set the tears in motion, but they just won't stop tonight. It is all about missing my boy, husband is still in CA. due to fly home on Friday afternoon and son's girlfriend will be home tomorrow afternoon so that will be good. We can be together for the weekend. Sunday we will be attending a service with my sister to honor and thank her as she donated her husband's eyes when he passed last December. They do a program for the :donor" families and they also will place a quilt piece on the larger quilt that was designed by my sister. It will be bittersweet for us. :(

For anyone who got a "sad" call or discouraging call....don't despair....it can change in a heartbeat to positive. They are still in the very hard part of bc, but in the next week or so, the tide changes and they feel better about it. When my son was in, he told me at one point, there was a line of recruits waiting to talk to the RDC's about getting out of there (of course, they couldn't!). By week 4, things were much better and they were seeing PIR on the horizon! This is an emotional rollercoaster for them as well as for their families! When that new US Navy Sailor is standing in full uniform in front of you, it will all be worth it! :-)
