Hi, ladies! Joining your group to help in any way that I can as another "veteran" mom in addition to Jessica and Tobianne. We have learned alot with our sailors' journeys and hopefully can answer your questions. Please feel free to ask! Jessica and I have sailors in the fleet now as of this past summer....Tobianne has one in A School who is "our hero" for her persistance and perseverance in times of struggle! HOOYAH! Now I know her son is moving through in this group. HOOYAH AGAIN!

Please let any of us know if you have questions about anything. We will try and "drop" info on here as needed. Hoping that letters are starting to arrive for you all now. Calls too (although very random according to division and RDC's so be patient!)....Your recruits are almost at the midway mark of bc...where things take a real positive turn for them. The first few weeks are so tough....for them and for the ladies on here too! Chin up...it gets so much better!

Hi Sharon!

For those who come from military families, like Lynn, you can so enlighten all of us with a lifetime of military memories. So please share whenever you can!

Proud of each and every one of your recruits who made such an honorable decision. I just got back from visiting my son at his station in VA for the first time. WOW. He took me through the LARGE base and I saw all of those ships lines up, with the sailors going on and off with their grocery bags, dry cleaning, etc. So proud of our sailors....seeing all of those ships was breathtaking to me. HOOYAH to all of our wonderful sailors! The Navy chant! We are so proud of each of them and we stand behind them 100 percent!

I love reading the posts on our group! It's funny, when my son first left for GL I was a wreck I would cry (still do sometimes) and be all anxious becuase didn't get a call or the form letter..(check back to some of my older posts, I was a MESS!) Anyway, my husband sat me down one night and said to me...."Diana, you raised a great kid, you gave him the skills and morals to be a great man. Let him go and become what you've shown him he could be." It was a hard pill to swallow, he wasn't saying I couldn't worry, just worry about the right things. So it took 3 weeks to get the form letter, I knew he was safe - I would have gotten a call otherwise. So I didn't get a call for a couple weeks - I knew if I was needed, he would call. Now at the same time, I was ecstatic when the form letter came and that quick "I need information" call came. It was nice just to hear in his voice that he was ok....but my husband was right - my son is no slouch so to expect less would be to disrespect him. ALL of our kids have what it takes to be the best sailors the Navy has ever seen. We need to let go - just a bit - and let them become who they are meant to be.

I come from a "military family". My grandfather was in the Army in WWII, Dad 37 yrs in the Marines (WWII, Korea, Vietnam), my sister served enlisted in the Army and as an officer in the Navy, my Bro in Law served in the Navy. They all went on to have Federal Gov careers and some still are at risk because of their jobs. I am the family black sheep - LOL! I am the peace-nick, the one who sees things differently. That doesn't stop me from thanking them every Veteran's Day, from hanging a flag on my door on Memorial Day, from stopping strangers in uniform and thanking them for everything they do, and from crying every time I hear the National Anthem. I stand proud because of the service provided by my military family. And, I AM OH SO VERY PROUD that my son has chosen this path as well.

Devins mom-
You keep that thought and never forget the pride you had when he said those words. We as military momma, we go through so many emotions. We are expected to smile and encourage, some days you do not want to smile, but you do. Laugh and understand, some days you just want to cry, but you laugh and understand. let go of your loved one. Every Day you want to yank them in tighter and keep them safe, but you let go and let them grow up and pray they made the right decision.

We are a special group of woman in America, we are momma that have given this country our babies and we are not to be messed with, but also we enjoy a hug and a thank you that the kids they have came from great stock. However we will sit back and watch as they over look us moms. I am good with that, I do not need to be front and center. I just need to know my babies are safe.

OMGoodness, what an awesome conversation. Now I understand why my family keep telling me that I've done a good job raising my daughter. And that is what brings tears to my eyes. They are as proud of her as I am (if that can be possible). I am one of those people/stranger that use to see a military person and walk up to them and thank them...lol.

Lala- your daughter is beautiful and thank you for the ingenious gift of providing ribbons. Be blessed always.

Ladies who haven't received letters and/or calls- hang in there, hopefully you will hear something soon.
