Wow...I feel really blessed to be in such a fabulous group of women, that raised their kids and gave them the strength to be the young men and women that they are today. Ladies..KUDOS, a huge standing "O" and resounding "thank you" for raising such wonderful young men and women! It is about time that there are kids out there that take responsibility and do not act as though they are "owed" a living!

As most of you moms know...it is pretty sketchy at times if what we say is really getting through...but, they will say something and you realize that all of your talking to glazed faces, being the bad guy and taking a stand pays off...my son said to me when he joined the entire reason that he was joining was that he felt very passionately that everyone should serve their country, no matter what. I was totally floored...wow...this is my wonderful 17 year old who is going to serve and protect our country...oh dang it...here come the tears again!

when you take them out, watch the looks you get. Most are proud of your Sailor. Some stare and give dirty looks. I have heard some get things thrown at them while out. This I think is part of the reason they have the Buddy system when they are on Liberty.

When Kay was leaving to go to TX. Her travel partner was asked by 2 older ladies if he could open the water they had bought. Funny thing was that sitting directly in front of these 2 elderly ladies were some men in there 30's. They walked down the line of seats to ask a Sailor for help. You have got to Love that. The respect that they get at times outweighs any bad.
She said folks were saying Thank you to them like crazy shaking hands and a few ask if they could hug them... scary but nice thought from strangers.

Tobianne- Thanks you so much, that was awesome. I am very proud of my daughter. She loves her God, loves her family, and loves this country. My family is also very proud of her they just don't cry as much as I do lol. I don't think they love or miss her any less, just differently. I have always been a worrier. Whether she is out with friends 2 miles away or sailing on a ship in the deep blue sea I will always worry about her and pray for her safe return.

Amen ladies. I have never once backed down where my children are concered. However my kiddo's will also tell you at a certain time in thier lives I also did not write notes for no homework, I also had coaches bench them for bad attitudes (even when the coach would say we need them ) too bad. I am raising kids that need to know screaming and running from things get you no where.
Kids that learn if you want something bad enough you will work your heart out for it.
I know everyone of your kids/husbands/boyfriends are this way. They are ready to take on any challenge and do it head first as they are proud to serve the country they live in.

I am not sorry really I had to listen to dribble, I am glad she got to see life is not a pretty wrapped gift. Military men and woman have been taking garbage from not just foreigners but from Americans for far to long. It was good for her to see this.
If it is any sweeter ending to that story: she walked out of class calling (standing proud and really yelling) a few young men COWARDS!!! lol. She also learned to speak her mind at an early age.

My son comes by things easy, but now he says wow, easy is the physical. hard is the mental. He told me he is so proud to be in a division that is working together so early and knows this was the right choice for him.

@Tobianne, sorry you had to go through that. What is wrong with people? They are everywhere and it is so sad. They could NEVER do what our loved ones are doing and you know they are the first ones to complain. Throw their .....in a hole and walk away and see how long they can survive!! lol THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO KEEP US SAFE!! THANK YOU TO OUR LOVED ONES WHO ARE STANDING WATCH AND NOT LETTING ANYTHING HAPPEN!!! *tears*
