I LOVE your soapbox! We are all becoming Navy strong & have a right to be proud as hell of our kids!

Let me tell you a story of a 17yr old girl. We were both in college and happened to have a class together. (my daughter). One day as we were sitting in class we started discussing this thing about her going into the Navy. She felt awesome. The next day she went to her class, and text me saying mom they are saying I am gonna get tossed in a hole in the desert and no one will help me.
I got pissed to say the least, this was also her professor. I went into my class, same professor, said my peace. It had something to do with the damn cowards sitting around me that had to let a female go do work they could easily do. Most coming from a background of running the streets.

I stood up in that class that day crying not over her decision to do this or my sons for that fact, but because I love them that much and will thank them for the rest of my life for keeping me safe. I also told this class to someday thank a military person for keeping them safe, able to listen to the crap they call music while breaking the sound barrier, be able to droop the pants they wear and go to school and pray as they like.

Now you go ahead and cry for these kids we love them. We know what they are sacrificing to do this. They leave a family and friends behind. The warm blanket of home.

Lala- you tell that girl of yours Thank you for me, my girl is not to far behind her and a home cooked meal is just what the Navy has ordered for her. God Bless her soul and God Bless you. Together we know what goes on and are now watching another go through BC and will proudly love them no less.

Sorry I am now off my soap box. I am sure we all feel this way. I have just been around some complete idiots where I live.

They will always be our babies, no matter how big, brave and courageous they are. A mother's heart should be soft for those who are so dear to her.

@Lala, she is one beautiful young woman!! Congrats!! Glad you get to spend time with her and cook for her too. I am sure my son is eating his share of food, he loves to eat.
Thanks too for the Ribbon info, I know that our group will be placing an order with you. I will need probably 8 of them just for those of us that are going to PIR!

what is wrong with loving your child you raised and nurtured for 18+ years. It is a very real thing these young people are doing. If you are caught crying so be it. Maybe the person looking at you understands what you are going through and if not then maybe they are the ones that have a child that does not want to go to work to keep this country free.

I will say the crying gets better but as of yet I can't say it goes away, I still find myself crying sometimes for no reason at all other than missing her. Tomorrow I will be a basket case again :-( My poor family, that isn't leaving for c-school, will think I have lost it AGAIN lol..... Right now I will be glad when she gets back from visiting with her dad. I am making her favorite dinner tonight. When she came home last week she had her first home cooked meal in over 4 months. She had a list of what she wanted for dinner each night lol.

aduckett16, Devin's mom, I know...It is getting harder. Don't get me wrong, I am so happy for the people that received calls but it seems harder knowing some have actually heard the voice of their loved one. I was out yesterday and out of no where, and I mean no where, came the tears! Nothing reminded me of him, just blindsided me. LOL embarrassing! Luckily I was in my car!! If there is something wrong with you, Devin's mom, there is something wrong with all of us!! I know the day is coming, we just have to ride it out...

LaLa what a great picture! Thank you for giving back!!

Kgswife - You're right, thanks for the support!! :)
