WOOHOO!!!!! We got a call from our son this afternoon!!!! It was so unexpected and so exciting!!!!!!!!!!! My daugher and I were sitting in Olive Garden having lunch and my phone ran. I saw that it was 847 area code and knew it would be him. We ran out of the restaurnat to talk to him. The waiter told we were dining and dashing!! He is doing good, they are not too hard on them. His group works well together, GO Div 369!!!!!!! He sounds wonderful, he was able to leave a voice mail on hubby's phone, he is in CA. for work and isn't home and he was also able to call his girlfriend who wasn't able to come home from college this weekend. We are sooo happy and can relax a bit to know they are doing fine. His bunkmate's dad is retired Navy Nuke, so that is so cool!! Thank you God for blessing us today!!!

@Heather - thanks so much for the detail on what's going on. We may be in different ships/divs but I bet they are experiencing somewhat of the same things.

Yes, they kept getting threatened to have it taken away, so it was so special for them when they did get to call. The phones & PEX are about 11/2 mile march from their ship. They have stenciled their clothes, haven't gotten dress uniforms yet & aren't having to iron anything yet. The first time they got to write was today, and they haven't gotten their first mail call yet (maybe later today) so keep the letters going & don't look for any yet, but maybe sometime this week.
