I would like to meet with everyone too. As far as I can tell there are only 3 in my son's division. LOL I am looking forward to hearing from everyone when they receive their first letters! On another note...I was thinking about the people that may not be able to attend, and what I could do for those families? Wether it be meeting their recruit, taking pics, spending time with them etc. I hate the thought of us all being excited, while someone else may be sad about not being able to go. Sorry, I don't mean to be a Debby Downer, just a thought. Anyone out there unable to go, please don't hesitate to ask if there is something I can do!

I would assume it will be casual, everyone will be just getting in. We are casual kind of people so that will work for me!

Maybe he just wanted conversation. Or new on the job. Who konws.... About the meet and greet i am game for everyone. I am sure some will not have the time to do it. And the others would love to meet everyone who has been chatting for all of this time. I hope it is casual cause I am packing mostly jeans.

Oh and then there is the whole wind thing, nope would not walk to the end of the road if I were dressed up and it was windy. That guy must have been smoking something, or not really know what he was telling you lol.
Glad you got a car, you will enjoy things much better I am sure.

Mom from St.Pete-
I would not walk that it is very far, he is crazy. must be a marathon runner. lol.It is a good 3 min drive to drop the kids of at the gate and PIR is much farther down and actually if I am correct it is on the Base, not the training command. Kayla was showing us where things were and it is a pretty far walk if you would have to hoof it.
I for one did not just do BC and for sure am not in nearly the shape I was in 10 yrs ago!!! I would venture to say it is about 3 miles to the PIR gate. There are signs so when you get in just go for a drive. You will not get into trouble, it is just a road, civilians use that road everyday.

NavyMom, that is AWESOME to have gotten a call from him!! Glad to hear the other recurits are doing o.k. I will pass that one on to my son's girlfriend. She will like to know. To know that our boys are together is good. Glad you were able to chat a bit, we can't wait to hear our Sailors voice and the girlfriend will love it too!!

@Diana, THANKS for the reminder!!

@Mom for St. Pete, LOL!!!! We could have a foot of snow in November, what was that guy thinking? No, we shouldn't have much snow if the past years are an indiction. It hasn't been too bad, but the winds are different in IL than in MI.

Wow. I am done with the reservations for PIR. Now just count down the days till we leave on the 11th. of Nov. The guy from the Ace rental asked me where I was staying. He said the Navy Lodge is walking distance to the Graduation. I said what if it's snowing? He said no way in early Nov. Silly me lol.. I picked Red Carpet Inn 1 mile from base. With free Shuttle. I do not like the cold...

Ok ladies- Some housekeeping items. Please remember that this is a public site and ANYONE can access it. Keep information general, if you choose to share your recruits name, or gender, keep it to the first name only. Only share your location in a general area....I'm in SW Florida for example. If you get bad news or discouraging news from your recruit - feel free to share it in a general nature....the key here is to keep things simple and keeping the safety and security of our recruits first and foremost.

If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email.
