Hello All! So excited just got off of the phone with my recruit. He is doing great!! he just need information for some paper work, I was able to ask question and he was able to answer unlike the "I made here call" He said that most of the recruits in his div are doing ok, just a lot of yelling and that no one has a name there, everyone is called "YOU". He said that they have not started getting any mail yet. Well that call really made my day!! Talk to you later...

No problem. I am a person that when I want to go, I want to go now. I do not want to wait on a taxi. Really though I do wish I would be able to take the train into the city. Only if the weather we going to be in the 60-70's lol...

I just called the Residence Inn abd they said a taxi from Miday to their hotel is between $75 and $80. My car rental for the weekend is $170, I think I'll keep the car..... just wanted to share this with you all.

Thanks Tobianne for all of your great advice!

I would call the taxi company and see what they think the charge could be and figure how much you will go off base and then decide, a car may be cheaper or it may cost more. It is a personal decision. I know that if you go to Gurnee mall, I did not see a train for that, so that would be taxi, and saw lots of those. But to Chicago, taxi and or train is my preferred way since I do not have to drive in the insane traffic, they drive like idiots and they do not care if you are in the way, also the taxi do not get lost usually. we were lost a few times and had to use the GPS on the phone which I hate.

Info, Lincoln Park Zoo in very cool and free if you do not drive. It can be as costly to park as 54.00. We paid 17 since we stayed about and hour and a half.
Navy Pier is also about 24.00 to [ark and active even when cold out. It is really beautiful, you see the city in the background and the water, the wind however will cut you in half. lol

well it can get hairy during the time of PIR which is actually down farther than where we pick up and drop the kids off during liberty. The line can get long. However it is going to be Nov. and to travel anyplace you either go by Taxi, which will pick you up at hotel, and is expensive or go by train, which you have to walk to get to it and walk from the destination point of the train to get to your destination, a bit cheaper and I think it is very cool, hubby wont hear of it.

Let me say that if any have kids staying in GL for A-school as I do, they will do trains and taxi both, they share the taxi and train is about 20 or so, they can get a rail pass, makes it way cheaper since they are military to do rail pass.

It is really your choice. We are driving to GL so I will have my car. Those flying understand that the taxi ride from O'hare can be very costly, and worse from Midway.

Either M&G is fine with me, I would definitely like to meet the fellow family members of the sailors in the same division as mine- whatever works for everyone!

@Lala - so to make sure I understand, since I am renting a car I should just drive to PIR? It's easier to get on base that way?
