@ jennaro18 - I'm from Florida, south of Sarasota. I take you are in Florida as well? There is another mom here from the St. Pete area as well...

@ladypinkhatter and Holly - you are all welcome! I am just learning this as I go and watching what has happened in groups before. We all need to stick together to make this the easiest - if longest - 8 weeks!

My son left from JAX. 9/21 any other FL moms? I know he had a nice group that flew out together which made him much calmer.I live in ATL GA, but he's been down in FL with family, so left from there.

well my daughter said this past weekend all the sailors in THU (not from these parts) were all complaining about how cold it was. She said most were heading to somewhat warmer weather so that was great for them, she is now in TX and said a lot of the petty officers think it is chilly. It is like 75 so she is happy, seems pretty warm to her. Again we are from Ohio and see some cold winters and this past summer was horrible with the humidity. The kids in BC suffered pretty good. GL is fairly close to our weather with the exception from the wind. You still feel it pretty good and Chicago is about 40 mins from the base. Those not use to that are gonna feel it I am sure.
We froze this weekend, also could have been that we all were sick and a bit feverish, but Kay said it was cold and she was healthy (for once)!!

Congrats to all the ladies who received letters and to MomfromSt.Pete who got to hear your recruits voice. I would love to hear my recruits voice right now.

@Diana- thank you for the info! I was overwhelmed yesterday trying to find flights for my parents and myself and all are in different locations.

@Tobianne- my recruit is from the west and I am praying everyday that she stays healthy. This kid has been traveling on missionary trips (in and out of the country) since she was 16, so I am hoping she will adjust one more time...lol.

@Holly- my Mom is from Port Townsend, WA. She retired there about five years ago. We go to Spokane to visit relatives when I visit.

anyone from florida ?
Comment by Tobianne on September 28, 2010 at 9:01pm
yes, I feel bad for the kids coming from the west and the south. North east and midwestern are pretty much use to this weather and Nov is a pretty darn cold month for the midwest and north east of the US... It is 50 different state germs mixing into one place. They (the) recruits refer to the yuck as the GL Crud!! lol

I hope there will be extra room for family. I have more than four people, hoping it won't be a problem when we get there to get them in.
Comment by Kgswifeforever on September 28, 2010 at 4:12pm
letsfly- yeah thats what they say.... if there are not as many divisions may be room for extra people to attend. so good luck:)
