Hey all I just wanted to drop in quick and let you know that contrary to popular belief letters don't mostly arrive on Wed and Thurs...at least not for the folks in my PIR group which incidentally is the week before you...many got letters on Saturday...so don't be discouraged...hang in there...

And rlc I saw your question and just happened to have checked that for someone in my group...they may in all liklihood get liberty each day until 8 or 9 PM...they will have to check in on Friday and then it will be up to their A-school folks...lol

How long can I expect my daughter to have liberty after PIR? Will she be able to have liberty each day of the weekend or just that Friday? Her A school is at Great Lakes so she won't be sent anywhere else.

I stayed at the Ramada in June, and it was fine for us. I did notice the smell, it comes from having carpeted halls in a city of high humity. Lots of moms of more recent PIR groups really liked the Springhill suites (the one closest to the base).

Cruisebook (aka Keel book) is cool, and it comes free with Pkg A (larger photo package) if they order and pay for it by PIR day. It can also be ordered separately, but must be ordered and paid for no later than PIR day, it's $30. Takes 12 weeks from PIR date to be mailed to address provided by recruit. First half of book is all about boot camp in general, but none of those pictures show your recruit or their division, but it covers everything they experience in those 7-8 wks. The later part of book will have your recruits division and their "brother" division pictures - but no other divisions that graduate with them. Contains each sailors picture (their formal one) and several group pictures of their division, the honor grads and a couple of random ones. My son loved his book. Tell your recruit to order the DVD - it's amazing to watch again later.

I got the Graduation packet with a small note from my son today. I feel like a kid at the candy store. Just grinning from ear to ear. It was pure joy.... I am ready to plan the trip to IL. Plane, hotel, rent a car... I can't wait.... I found out our ship is 02 and Div 952. He is doing great. He is a leader..... I am so proud of him.

Graduation Packets? I've done some looking around on the site for hotel recommendations, and came across a string of comments talking about Graduation Packets. Is that something that comes with the Form Letter or is that something different?
