I received the box and letter today via US Mail! He wrote a little note, said he didn't know if he'd get through it but he knows how proud we are and that gets him going! His dog went CRAZY when we opened the box! I put everything back in the box and I'm leaving it as is.
I'm going to start making flight arrangements now!

JessicaB - Will the calls come any day of the week or just on Sundays? I do my best to keep my cell phone with me at all times but I was hoping to narrow it down a bit if possible.

Lynne - WOO HOO in the letter! Maybe mine will come soon. I've seen the name Anastasias a lot so we may have to look into it. I've got a bit of time yet so I'll see what the other moms have in mind.... Believe it or not, it's not ALL about me! LOL

Hey Diana...I think we are still going to go with Anastasias my inbox is blowing up at the moment with messages...lol...but so many complained from recent PIR groups about the Ramada. They do it regardless but we kind of feel like the people we want to most meet are the ones we have bonded with online...so if we miss some of the other parents so be it. I think it has to be up to you. You all need to talk to folks from PIRs in recent weeks. They have been pretty vocal. Ramada was really rude to me when I called...they said they hold the Meet and Greet and that is that!!

What I really stopped by to say is I GOT A LETTER!! Just thought you would like to know I passed the next hurdle. My son is surviving and he wrote this funny line.."hey mom the only time I get to sit down is to poop and eat...I don't know about you but that's too much standing"......I laughed so hard. So hang in there I bet next week your letters will start coming in!!

Devin's Mom, I received my sailor's box on Monday and still no form letter; I've heard it's up to a week after the box that you can receive the letter. I'm hoping sooner than that? Do you know what division your sailor is in?
Comment by Devin'sMom (Ship 11 / Div 367) on September 22, 2010 at 3:04pm
Thank you for the warm welcom. I forgot to say that we are from Sandpoint, Idaho (originally from San Francisco). Devin is my one and only child...plus I was a single mom for a number of years. Opened the box last night and shuffled through it a bit. When I put it in his room to put things away and what needs to be washed, was when it hit me...and not because of his backpack, shorts, tee shirt...no...it was his boxer shorts in the bottom of the box. What the heck??!!?? Composed now...waiting for the form letter. From what I'm seeing, this normally comes within a few days of the box or vice versa, right?

Has anyone started making flight or hotel reservations yet? I know our date isn't confirmed yet but was just wondering what you all were thinking about doing....

JessicaB & Lynne - I've seen a lot of posts about M&G's at different venues. Is this something that the hotel's do on their own or do we as a group need to coordinate it?

Thank you Diana, I'm so excited for it!

Hi Mom from StPete - I am also from FL (son left from MD)! Have you found out what your son's ship and division is yet?
Comment by Mom from St Pete on September 22, 2010 at 6:35am
My son left on the 14th and I am also guessing we are in this group. We will find out for sure next week. We are from Florida.

Wow Heather - it sure sounds like you have your hands full! I'm sure it's nice to have things to keep your mind occupied, but I'm sure he's never far from your thoughts. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
