I bet his grandfather is super proud!! Our picture was taken the weekend before he left. Yeah, the more support the better, I don't want him to worry about what's going on at home and I make sure to tell him I have it under control. He has far more important things to concentrate on!! He does not play an instrument and I'm anxious to find out what my sailor will be doing as well. Even though this is a tough time, my excitement and pride overwhelms me and I can't help but be happy for him and for our new life together!! Congratulations to you for having such a brave son! Good Job!

Yes, that's my son (Charlie) with his grandfather who was a Chief in the Navy himself. This picture was taken the night before he left for GL. I'm right there with you on the more is better. I sent two letters yesterday that I had already written, and then another one today... I know his gf has a long one that she is going to send, but I've already told her to keep it simple and supportive. We'll see how that goes! Sounds like you have sent some great things to yours as well! I'm sure he'll enjoy it. Does he play an instrument? I haven't quite figured out what he'll be doing in the 952 Division, but am hoping he'll explain it to me in a letter.

Yes, that is my sailor!! I'm so proud of him, it is nice to meet another family member of a sailor in the same division. I was estimating based on the RTC website too! Is that your sailor in your picture? I sent out his first letter yesterday and I have a follow up one today. I've heard so many stories about the amount of letters the recruits receive, some say less is more (less slack on the recruit) but I have also read to send as many as you can because they live for mail. I think I'll go with the latter. I'm not sending anything mushy or musical or attention-grabbing so he should be okay! My first letter contained some pictures of our last weekend together and our family, my letter, pre-addressed envelopes for him to write back and a drawing from our daughter. I hope all those things are okay. I've read that they are. We'll see!

Hi Heather! Welcome! My son reported last Tuesday as well - from Baltimore. It's nice to have another person in the same ship/div. I am with you on guessing the PIR date is 11/12 it just makes sense if you follow how the other dates have gone.... Is that your fiancee in your picture?

Hello all! My sailor reported to BC last Tuesday, I received his box yesterday, I anticipate his form letter any time now. Not definite on his PIR date, but I believe it's 11/12/10, his division is Ship 2/ Div 952 USS Ruben James,so it looks like this is the group I need to be in!! I'm excited to meet everyone!!

I just wanted to welcome you and this new PIR group to N4M's. Your group will grow a lot in the next couple of weeks. As soon as people start to get their form letters and PIR info they will look for this group. In the mean time there are several of us who help in each group. We have been through boot camp already and have our own experiences to share. For me, my daughter had PIR July 23rd and her fiancee is in boot camp now and has PIR Oct 29th. My daughter was in the choir in the performing division, she was a grad and go to Pensacola and was on a chartered flight. If anyone has any questions at all please feel free to send me a friend request.

And i think Jessica only sleeps a couple hours a day lol. She is so much help to every group. :) We love you Jessica!!!!

Jessica - When I spoke with the recruiter he said SR, First Name, Last Name. No mention of the Middle Initial or RTC.... Will it still get to him?
