a lot of bases have information on the "adopt a Sailor" program. They should ask the Petty Officers or anyone that could direct them, maybe the Chaplains could help them.

Does anyone know what local options there are for Thanksgiving sailors on hold for A school in Great Lakes that can't come home? Any families in the area hosting Sailors at their home for dinner, etc.?

School is out, but they have limited liberty & leave as they have been in such a short time. My son is staying in CT, and going to a big Thanksgiving hooplah that a sub veteran's group throws close to base. For this they do get to wear civvies & can consume alcohol if of age. Here's what he sent me, but each base may be different.we're on white card until we complete our quals, which we can't do until classes start, which means 2200 curfew, no booze, no civvies, 25 mile radius, then we go to yellow card which means we can drink, wear civvies off base, and have a 150 mile radius, and a 0000 curfew, and from there it's blue card which means we can wear civvies on base, and be back in time for class) .
