OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Thank you ellen0802. I just got a call from my SR. He said they got in a little trouble and could not call over the weekend, but they did much better in the last few days, so they are calling today. He sounded very well and I was so happy to hear from him.. We established that mail takes about a week to reach them, both ways.
Hope many of you will get a chance to talk to SR today :)

I got a call today too. I was on a work call and told them I had to go when I saw it pop up on my cell phone. Priorities right??? He mentioned not getting to call Saturday as well. I'm glad they got to call today. He sounded good too. He sounded so mature.

Hello Everyone, I also received a call at work from my Son. He sounded really good! Looks like many in our group received calls. :) Too funny I was on a call at work when my assistant put a note in front of me that he was on line 101! Absolutely, most important call of the day! :)

I missed my son's call! :( But I got a letter. He is doing great. He and some of the other recruits started a bible study

Just got a letter today from my SR so happy to know he is ok and doing just fine. He mailed the letter on Sunday and I just got it today. He said he has made some great friendships. I am so thankful. It's a terrific day!

Here is a little info on Weapons Training. I bet they'll do fine :-)
Week 4:
This is probably the second-most eventful week in boot camp. The second training day of this week is spent at a firing range. Don't expect to shoot real bullets yet though. This day is an introduction to the 9 millimeter pistol (watch turnover weapon) and the shotgun and their components. You will then fire electronic weapons and will probably do very bad at it because I don't believe any kind of laser to screen targeting is too accurate. This introduction course is known as Small Arms Marksmanship Training (SAMT).
The next training day after SAMT is the real stuff. Time to prove what you are made of with a little pistol. It's.....LIVEFIRE! With distances ranging from 3-15 yards and hand positions to keep it switched up, you have at maximum 4 rounds (which is a lot) to earn your second ribbon. Your first ribbon is the National Defense Service Ribbon (well...medal and ribbon). You may only earn a medal in pistol shooting if you achieve an Expert rating. You will also hear something at the beginning of the week called "Breaking Blue." This instance is when you are doing something with the gun that you aren't supposed to be doing, ie. pointing the gun other than at the target. I was afraid the whole week that I was going to get sent back a week in training for this infraction, but in reality, the instructors seemed pretty lenient and unless you actually point the gun at their face, you are going to be fine. You will most likely make it out with your second ribbon, whether its Marksman, Sharpshooter (S), or Expert (E). -

The National Defense Service Ribbon: All Sailors will have this ribbon. It is authorized to be worn by all US service members serving in the armed forces between 11 September 2001 and a date yet-to-be-determined for service during the War on Terrorism.
Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon is currently awarded for qualification on the Beretta 9mm pistol. If the Sailor obtains Sharpshooter status the ribbon will have a bronze S on it. If the Sailor obtains Expert status the ribbon will have a silver E on it.
