POST-REMINDER FOR OPSEC AND COMMUNITY GUIDELINES FOR N4M’S
This is not a correction, just a reminder. I have been catching posts on past PIR groups that break OPSEC.
As far as OPSEC and the N4M's Community Guidelines...they still stand. They always will. In boot we advise about linking up with your recruit because the RDC's read these posts...it is a building block for the future of the Sailor and his family. A lot of the "focus" is on BC and this...but it is meant to be carried on for the duration of your Sailors career and is a very serious matter. You can jeopardize your safety and your Sailors by breaking OPSEC. Not to mention that I am sure there are punishments for it. Posting email addresses is better done privately. You may post the month of movement (ships or people) but not specific dates. You may post the ship they are on but not where it is going specifically...such as city and dates. When deployed you may post the country but not exact locations, units, camps...when in doubt less is better. General statements not specifics. I know they are in "A" school but again these are building blocks to lay the foundation for when they are out in fleet. When my husband was deployed he could not tell me the specific date he was coming home (emailed it in code to me), I could only tell people "sometime in July".
Please review the Community Guidelines again and OPSEC.
I am not trying to be a pill...these are very important and a serious matter...just trying to look out for your Sailors and you.
Thank you,
FTLW
Putting out the word again - for those of you with Sailors who have reported to Pensacola..... if they are allowed to leave base for Thanksgiving and want someplace to go I am opening my doors to adopt any and all Sailors who are interested in a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner and a family atomosphere. Please send me a private message and we will exchange contact info and details.
Good to hear you all reporting in! Love the pic Wanda...thanks...good to see Sarge! Can't wait to hear more stories!
Got home just a bit ago, long drive. Yesterday was spent with Caitlin catching up on the computer at the Lodge, then dinner late afternoon with a friend from Scott SFB. What a wonderful day! Caitlin went to Midway this morning about 3 a.m. I met up with her there for a little while but knew I had a long drive ahead so she sent Allie, Josh and I on our way. Texts were flying between the airport and my car all day. She jjust now texted that she is in Atlanta to get the next flight on into to Pensacola.
I too enjoyed meeting some moms and hope to keep up here.
Long day today and another one to start early in the morn. Goodnight my fellow Navy Moms.
We're home. Got in around 3:30pm EST. I am so tired! It was so wonderful to see my girl. We spent most of the time in our hotel too. Elena was tired and not feeling well. She was coughing and was congested. She got into my hubby's PJ's and slept. We did get to talk a lot though. And thank God we had Sarge driving us around and helping us out. Through the mayhem of Elena moving to her new barracks where she will be attending A-School at Great Lakes, she forgot her boots back at RTC. She was nervous. We told Sarge and he quickly made a call. He took us back to RTC, he spoke with the gate guard and he let us in. She took off and found her boots! Then another incident, she was given the wrong name of her new ship at her new location and wasn't sure how to get back to her ship so she had anxieties about that. So Sarge to the rescue; he made a call, found out the name of her ship and was arranging for someone to meet her at the gate but she was lucky to run into 2 other sailors who were heading back as well and escorted her. Let me just say, Sarge went above and beyond several times for us. He is a gem. If ever you need a driver, call on Sarge 847-212-0246. He cares about these kids.
I also took a couple pictures of the Meet & Greet at the Sundance Saloon. There was plenty of food to go around. The event was very informative. You cannot imagine how much information this man has. He's served in the Army for 21 yrs and has lived in Illinois for over 30 yrs. Everyone knows him on the base and in the surrounding businesses.
We're home Graduation was beautiful. Can you believe all she wanted to do was hang out at the hotel room and talk to us it was wonderful. And as she spoke all i did was listen to how grown up my baby sounded. PIR was amazing i almost got arrested i was so excited i forgot i wasn't suppose to take pictures on the base. Thank god i was facing the building where the PIR was in so they let me go. LOL.
Then stayed with her and another sailor/friend at O'Hare from 4:00 am until 10:10 when she boarded her flight to Penacola. Our flight didn't leave til this morning got home about 1:30 pm so glad to be home. She might be home for Christmas keeping my fingers crossed. At least she can text me and call me freely now.
It was and is nice sharing our feeling and stories everyone i will be keeping in touch. Wishing everyone's sailor a happy future. :)
Just walked in my front door about 20 minutes ago. Spent ALL DAY yesterday (from 5:30 am until 4:00 pm) at O'Hare with Cameron before they shipped out to Charleston at 7:25pm. What a terrific weekend! Even spending the whole day at O'Hare was good--Got to meet FLBradybunch! Fabulous, gorgeous woman and a lovely lovely sailor (yes, even a male can be lovely :)). I didn't care if we spent time in a parking lot...just wanted to be with my sailor. Three separate times people came up to him to shake his hand and thank him for his service. Caught him off guard each time. One lady was near tears--ok, at that one I DID end up in tears! We talked about how to handle people coming up to him...it really made him stand even taller than before (if that was at all possible). A really great weekend! My heart is much lighter than it was before. I hated having to say bye, but at least now there will be communication--you never really realize how key it is until you don't have it! AND, now I know why everyone was all up-in-arms about the dress blues being worn at PIR! They all looked so gorgeous! I will admit though...I'm beyond wiped out! I've already warned the cat that I have absolutely no idea how long I'm going to be compus mentus tonite. She just meowed in my face--part reprimand for being gone, part "it's about time you got here." Now off to do laundry and put stuff away.
I'm so proud of our sailors and so proud to be part of the Navy family! :)
