suebal and diannep - some time in the next several months I need to take a trip touring colleges with my 17 year old and he has his eye on one in Miami.... we'll have to plan a lunch or dinner meet up ;-)

When I talked to my SR a while back they had just started receiving mail and he got about 14 letters at one time.  He should get one nearly every day from me.  I need to remember to ask him about any in his division not getting mail.

Hello Everyone! Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well. I just got back from running; feeling pretty good. Can't wait to take a shower and relax with hubby in front of the tube-catch up on our shows recorded on the DVR during the week.

I received two letters in one envelope today! The letters were kinda old bc I spoke to my daughter recently so I already knew the info in the letter. Glad I got to talk to her because the letters talked about old stuff and everything is more positive now. The most recent letter was dated Oct 3rd. At that time she only received 3 letters from me. Today I mailed her the 11th letter.

suebal:  Wasn't the weather wonderful in our area today?  I live in Miami...a gorgeous day!

Lala Ribbon Queen, I couldn't agree more!  My first thought was THANK YOU GOD! My second thought was AFGHANISTAN YOU ARE NEXT! Bring our people home where they belong!

suebal - you can do it anytime...a blue candle is meant to "show the way home" for a Sailor.

During BC though we light it when our SR's are going through Battlestations to support them in the transition from being a recruit to becoming a Sailor. So, that's when most add it on on here.

Since mine has graduated I keep mine "burning" (battery operated) every night for all going through BC and the other branches.

It is time to CELEBRATE!!!!!!   The Iraq War is OVER.

I wonder if they have told all the recruits and Sailors what they are saying on the news. Iraq war is over and all troops will be home by the end of the year. I swear when I read that I had tears running down my face. I can only imagine how happy the families will be to have their son/daughters, wives/husbands, brothers/sisters, moms/days, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles etc etc etc home for the holidays. What a great joy that will be :-)

Can anyone tell me about the blue candle we see on the FB page for USNRTC?  When do "we" get to put it on our profiles? Is it after we get the "I'm a sailor" call?

Good Morning, ladies.  I'm gearing up for my first Adopt A Sailor party tomorrow and I can't wait.  A few of us Maryland moms are getting together for lunch and the restaurant has a room for us to put together our boxes.  It's such a fun way to meet more Navy moms in my area.  It's kinda a deja vu for me, since my daughter used to have about 15 friends at our house twice a year to put together boxes to send to soldiers/sailors when she was in high school.  See the fun things that you can look forward to doing.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD morning everyone from lovely, cool, got-the-windows-open (yay) southeast Florida!  It's Friday! Got a letter yesterday! Life is good! (ok...I'll chill on ! :)  I actually pulled out my "winter coat" yesterday and, to be honest, can't wait to wear it on 11/18.
