For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Congrats to everyone who received a letter and a phone call. I've received my daughter's 2nd letter on October 6th. Looking forward to hear her voice soon!
Does anyone know what they are called after they graduate from bootcamp, is it Seaman or Sailor?

First real letter arrived today..... my other son read it to me, but I cannot wait to hold it in my own hands and see it with my own eyes!

Oh boy...I get to join the "I got a letter today" club! So happy right now--the cat is hiding. Been doing a happy dance all afternoon. Absolutely nothing can diminish the joy in my heart and the smile on my face. YAY for all of us!

I promise...NO jumping. Just had a moment there. At least I know where he is and what he is doing: funny story on his dad...when he was our son's age, he got an opportunity to play pro basketball in Argentina. His mom asked him to make sure to call when he got there (remember this is pre-cell phone and easy international phone access) so she would know he was safe. He got so busy from day one that he forgot. After all, he didn't see any reason that she should be worried. Two weeks later she finally was able to track him down...boy, did he get it! Now he is the one on the other side of the coin. Interesting how our perspective changes over time, eh?
