This is all VERY normal ladies...they are getting used to it...and you are getting used to hearing about it. My husband would tell me what he could when he was in Iraq and some of it was "not fun" but who else will he share it with?! Like we say..."we don't have to like it"...but we will learn to accept it.

I can read your posts and I am not "emotionally" involved like you are (though I caer about ALL of our troops) so here is what I read.

Gette...she is in a position of leadership which brings stress...it's going to grow her and she cares about her performance. (WandaG - saw your post as I am writing - exactly!)...HOOYAH for your daughter.

WandaG - Through the stress and homesickness...she is functioning and doing and "pressing on"...HOOYAH for your daughter too!

Homesickness is HUGE right now with some of them...by the time you get your next letter (or even from when this one was written) it will get better.

The no PDA can be hard...I feel for them...I though about that a lot when my hubby was deployed...not even a hug or a hand hold for 6 months. I could at least hug my kids or a friend. I give him LOTS now! My son has been gone for 6 months and I have a big 'ol bear hug waiting for him!

Here is some for you!

I am happy for all of you who are getting letters!  I can't wait to get one myself.  Is there rhyme or reason why some are able to write and others not or is it just (and this is probably the case, lol) that my son hasn't actually written his poor mom yet?

Exactly Gette, stressed is the word. I can feel my daughter's anxiety through her letter. I figure it's part of the process and part of growing up :o)

Ladies, I received a 2nd letter from my daughter. Someone mentioned that they noticed the stages their SR went through from the letters. My daughter is definitely going through a transition. She is now home sick. She's never been before. Always wanted to be on her own and hang with her friends. Now she cherishes the times we shared as a family watching tv together while sipping on hot cocoa or tea. She misses the affection and wants to be hugged so bad. It breaks my heart to read her letter but she did say she'll be fine. She's sick from the flu vaccine but doesn't want to go to medical. She is concerned about her exams; she's studying at night. I hope she does well. She's always been a good student. She is making friends and established a system with her bunk mate to make sure their beds are ready in time for inspection. Her letter is dated October 2nd and by the sounds of it I don't think she's received any of my letters yet. I mailed my 5th letter yesterday. I plan to mail the 6th letter tomorrow. I will say a prayer for her tonight.

Remember Monday is a holiday and next weeks mail may be delayed by a day :-( I am not sure if it a holiday for the recruits or not but if it is they should have extra time to write :-D
