Ladies, as Lala said, keep those letters coming.  When your SR's left for BC, they probably told you not to write too much.  Don't believe them, as there is no such thing as too much!  They live for mail call and most of them can't get enough of what we write.  Tell your relatives, siblings, their friends, neighbors, etc to write them a note or card too.  I have friends who have children in the military and I write to them too.  You can be so creative with your communication.  Send the comics from your newspaper, sports wrap-ups, cards, print pictures of them when they were younger and make a collage on printer paper.  I sent a picture of my sailor when he was 3 in a sailor outfit and titled it "A look into the future".   I took a picture of my computer screen when our PIR group's countdown clock showed 17 days, 17 hours, 17 minutes, 17 seconds (our PIR date was the 17th of Dec) and sent that to him.  Yes, I sat and waited until the seconds were perfect when I noticed it was getting close, lol.  Our post office had "heroe" cards and I sent some of those to him.  Hallmark has some wonderful military cards.  There are so many different ways to let them know you are proud of them and just want to send some encouragement.

Can't wait till I receive a letter from my daughter. She left Sept. 27th and my son leaves Oct. 24th. Between her dad, myself, 3 brothers, fiancee',and grandparents, I hope she is overwhelmed with letters. Hopefully will make this transition not feel like we forgot about her. Which I could never do. I miss her like crazy and dreading when my son leaves :(

I heard that flbb.  I am hoping to get my second today, I was bummed yesterday.  I had gotten a real at the same time as the form, got lucky.  The first one only took two days from when she wrote it. Hoping.

willing my letter to arrive today (first real not form) - willing my letter to arrive today - willing my letter to arrive today - willing my letter to arrive today - willing my letter to arrive today.......

I will do that flbb.  I sat in the parking lot at school this morn before hitting the puter to write a note. It will go in the mail after class.  My older daughter is writing more which is a good thing.

I will have to keep my note pad handy too.  There have been times when I have wanted to ask a question then forget it when I sit down to write her.  go figure.

Thanks so much for the help from all the moms on here.

I hope all have a good day.

Gette - I print out funny pics onto plain paper, his facebook page, the scores to date for his college football team, the AP poll for last weeks football standings..... I keep a notebook near me while working and when I think of something I want to tell him or ask him I write it quick, so my letters can be very short or very long.  I have also sent the questionaire with SASE, and had the brothers and sisters write or color pics.  One mom even posted on here that she sent her grocery list and her SR loved it.  I think sometimes it doesn't matter what you write - just that you were thinking about them and took the time to write anything at all!

Goodness you all make me feel like a slacker.  I don't do very good writing more than a few sentences at a time and my girl knows it.  I guess I can use my Amer. Legion Aux. "Thinking of You" cards that I have gotten over the years.

neurotic letter writting is a good thing lol. I wrote everyday and she begged for more. They say it is like Christmas when you hear your name called out and it is the one thing that makes being away from family bearable. So keep those pens  flowing :-)

Pb2011, I feel the same way. I feel closer to my daughter when I write her. It feels so good to mail off that letter as well :o)

A letter every other day feels right to me, so thats what I'm gonna do. My son's exact words in his letter today was "you can't write enough", so he may need to be careful what he wishes for. lol

Flbradybunch, you keep sending those letters! Its not neurotic at all. If its what your SR needs, then do it. Plus, its what you need. I always feel closer to my SR when I write.
