Yes, karlawb. They wait at the Visitors Center...if they even make them wait. For a PIR group this small, they probably will allow them to go in with you. Yes, everyone needs to be there early!
OK sailor moms/sisters/wives/girlfriends! Safe travels! SEE YOU THERE! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited :)
Does anyone know about those who have to wait before they are let into the hall? I mean the extra besides the 4 invited ones. Do they have a place to wait? Is there a line or waiting list? I know you said it is small and they will probably get in but when do they start letting them in. Do they need to be there early also?
diannep, I still tear up watching the video and my son graduated a year ago. :)
Enjoy your time with your sailors and don't forget to give them ((hugs)) from all of their honorary Navy moms. Please thank them from us :)
...to add to Lala's PIR suggestions, please arrive early! This is a relatively small group, but still. Allow for any issues that could come up. Remember, sometimes your sailors use the restrooms before PIR so that is a nice place to "hang out" in the drill hall, if someone could save your seat! A sneak peek at your new sailor!
I would be on the 6:30 shuttle if possible, or the next one---in the car line by 6 if driving---....you can take snacks into the hall and they have small things/coffee for purchase there. Just better to get there early, find the seat you want in your divison section, and enjoy the moment. There is some pre-ceremony activity going on in there too. Get ready for a wonderful experience of a lifetime. Hugs to your new sailors!
Ok, so congrats on the new sailors who will be calling this afternoon, safe travel to PIR, and one last time...."the video." This will be you all on Friday! Enjoy!
Congrats to all the new Sailors and to you for surviving this boot camp experience :-) Have a great time at PIR and please travel safely.
When driving to the base the morning of PIR avoid the far right lane. It ends and you will have to merge left so it will save you some wait time by avoiding it to begin with.
When you get in the PIR hall take some practice shots with your camera and change the settings until you get the best pictures for the environment you are in. you will be glad you took the time and your pictures will come out much better.
