Lol I haven't talked to mine yet . Hopefully the wisdom teeth are not an issue.

@GsMom, that was one of my questions to my son yesterday when he called for info for his clearance.  What rating is your son? Mine is IT AFT.  Luckily my son doesn't have to his out, he's happy about that.

@heyma313 and @christanurse, yep, looks like our kids are together! I got the box earlier today. Then, just a little bit ago, he got to call to get more info for his clearance. It was so great to hear his voice! He already sounds older. In the excitement and surprise of his phone call, I forgot to ask about his wisdom teeth. Duh.  :)

No, you won't hear about it until you get a letter or regular phone call from your Recruit.

Comment by patmej2011 on October 8, 2014 at 2:19pm
Do they get to notify us of wisdom tooth extraction? My son has three extracted, but has one left
Comment by CryptoDad on October 8, 2014 at 2:17pm

Some (not all) Recruits will have their wisdom teeth pulled this week, even though they have never had any trouble with them. The Navy determines if there is any possibility of future impaction and if there is, they come out. Can't afford wisdom tooth problems in the middle of a long sea deployment. RTC has staff of excellent oral surgeons. And Recruits get 2 days of SIQ (Sick In Quarters) to recover.

QUESTION: How many moms will be totally blindsided by this news?
