Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

@kim- I'm at the Navy Lodge. I booked my tickets on Southwest, I'm getting ready to book my rental car, actually I think it will be a van, since my mom and dad are going too (My dad is a 1976 grad of RTC!) Can't wait to go see my son. I tell him how many days until graduation on each letter.
@clyons- My son has the same ship and division, welcome!

Planning!! Here;s my 2¢.
Do as much as you can, as soon as you can: Hotel, travel, car rental/shuttle, etc. Don't hesitate. Then in your next letter or phone call you can tell your Recruit that you have your bags packed and are eagerly awaiting his/her graduation. Send the message that you are 100% confident in their success. This can be a real moral booster.
I can hear someone saying, "Yeah, but what if....". There is no "what if". YOUR CHILD IS GRADUATING ON 11/21. Do not send the message that you have doubts and fears. Keep them to yourself. Reservations can be canceled, ( Book with Southwest Air and there is no penalty for changing flights.) The message you want to send is that on 11/21 you are going to be in those bleachers and expecting your Sailor to march into that drill hall. Failure is not an option.
Ok, I'm off my soapbox.
ps - The day we received our letter, I placed an order for a custom Navy ring with the PIR date engraved inside. 100% confidence in my kid.

Good morning beautiful ladies! So happy to hear that most of us have received those letters from our beloved SR's and that we can all make plans to attend. I know I have already made some amazing friends on this site and while I've been somewhat stoic about my SR heading out, I know longer feel alone or lonely, I have a bunch of amazing ladies who are going through the same thing as me. Countdown continues, 45 days!
