N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son is in 903 set for PIR THIS Wednesday. He has a rate for Aircrewman. When they did his flight physical, they found a small hernia. Anyway, they wanted to take care of it before Aircrewman Canditate School. So. He as a surgery scheduled at GL for NOV 30th. My questions for what may possibly happen. Does he get on a medical hold and do nothing after surgery until shipped out for school. (It's only a day surgery.) Do they ever get leave before A school or do they have to phase up, (whatever that means). Any ideas of this process? Thanks O NAVY WISE ONES!

Coco333,  I know it doesn't seem right to not have more notice, but that's the way it is. He probably did test on Friday, and I can only make a "past experience" guess that if he didn't pass he will retest on Monday.  Again, they do want them to pass at this point, and they are aware the PIR is important to the Sailor and their family, but the Navy "holds the cards."

You can try calling the PAO on Monday afternoon, and see what you can find out. 847-688-2405 Again, they won't, and they can't give you more information than if he is still on track for PIR.

I am sorry that this makes it difficult, and I really do understand your circumstances and the difficulty it brings with short notice, but the bottom line is you will have a United States Sailor.

Thoughts and prayers that it all works out for you, that your son has passed, and you get a phone call soon.

I am in the same boat as you, CoCo. Got the call Thursday night that my SR failed the run by 35 seconds. She was supposed to retake yesterday at 12:30pm and call if she passed. No call. I hate this. Not knowing what is going on sucks. 6 seconds!? That really stinks! I agree that Tuesday afternoon is far too late to find out anything! We are driving 13 hours to get there and would need to know either way FOR SURE no later than Monday afternoon/evening.

Thanks madcrazyred31 and ellen0502 for the information.
Coco333 I still haven't got the call :(

Furthermore what is pao and how do I reach them?

Comment by Coco333 on November 21, 2015 at 9:57am

He called Thursday and said he missed his run by 6 seconds and that he had to retake Friday. Some here are telling much different things. I must have more notice then Tuesday! II have an elderly mother that it's taken weeks to set up her care for when I'm gone not to mention the time I had to take off work. If I can't go (I'm a server) I am out of days of money. Why would they tell him Friday if its going to be Monday????

Congratulations to all those who got calls and to all those who are waiting on a call, I'm thinking of you and wishing your SR the best of luck. Hang in there, waiting is not fun!!

Coco333, Since it appears your son was put into FIT, and PIR is not until next week, he will test once more before BS.The phone call may or may not come after passing the PFA, but you will hear if/when he has passed BS. They do get all the extra help they need at this point, when they have made it this far the truly want them to become Sailors.

You can call the PAO office on Tuesday afternoon, tell them you are preparing to travel, or are traveling to PIR 11/25, your son has been in FIT, and ask if he is still set to graduate on Wed.

You cannot ask anymore than that (they won't tell you anything anyway), they will probably ask you some questions about your son, and you will most likely get a yes or no answer (they will not tell you anymore than yes or no).

Barbie Doll, Your Sailors are due back on base each night. There is no overnight liberty.

Okay, another mom on another page says they only call if they pass. No call means they will be retesting. This is one person's word but gives a starting point to look into. I know many have been reassuring that they really want the SRs to pass and will be helping them in every way possible to get there.
Comment by madcrazyred31 on November 20, 2015 at 8:18pm
No, Barbie doll. They will have to be back on base between 8-9pm and will be given liberty on Thanksgiving morning til around the same time that night.
