N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good to know about the meet and greet the day before PIR.  I definitely want to meet the people I've met through this site!  Such amazing people with so much in common! I didn't want to take time away from the little time I'll have with my son but really look forward to meeting these families! Just as my son is bonding with his division, I already feel a connection with the families! What a great way to keep us connected!

CatMom509- Thank you for the great travel advice, looking into maybe just me and my little one attending PIR. Really don't want to miss it especially since we'll get to spend Thanksgiving with them as well...If it looks like I just can't make it I will watch the live stream for sure! :)

Just a gentle reminder, (don't mean to be redundant, but I just don't know so better safe than sorry), last names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on the N4M's website. It breaks OPSEC (OPerational SECurity).

If your last name is the same as your Recruits and you have it in your N4M Username you will need to change your username. We can walk you through it if you need help.

If your last name is different we still recommend that you don't use it for your own personal security, but it is your choice of course :-)

Thank you!

BethM:  The MeetandGreet is held the night before PIR.  You will not be able to see your sailors until PIR Day.  So please attend the MeetandGreet!  You will meet the families on here that you have been posting with.  Your time with your sailor will be on PIR Day.  Until early evening.

There is a fabulous museum in Chicago Pritzker Military Museum

We went a year or so ago for a fabulous SEAL exhibit. It is still available online. In fact, the Pritzker online site is just so filled with great information! The museum is just beautiful, too. (In case anyone has extra time in Chicago)
