N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My daughter leaves base at 1am. I have to be at airport to give her stuff. I truly hope they give gate passes. Planned to stay with her until she leaves. Will be heartbroken if we can't.

Mom4son & ProudNavyWife, we told ours when we dropped him off that we would meet him at the Delta ticket counter at 8am. We told him to borrow a cell phone or use his long distance card to call us if there is a problem. Even if they don't give us gate passes, we think there should be areas to sit before you have to pass through security (never been to OHare but most airports are that way). My fear now is if he goes through security and then they don't let him come back out.

Agreed! Im glad I called tonight. Ill post and conferm for other who are flying out Saturday an Susan but I can't risk it being as I don't say good bye today and we do not have occompanied orders to his Aschool.
The info I have is they will be at terminal 2 I know he's flogging delta so I guess ill just hang out by the delta counter? I was told to be there 30 early and park in lot E and take the shuttle so I plan to leave here at 2-2:30 the latest so I can be waiting by 3:30 for them

OMG!!! Proudwife, where will you meet the bus at?? My son needs his phone so I too have no other option!! Just crazy!!!!

My sailor is flying out @ 6pm and was getting two different stories about leaving the airport too. He was first told he could, then told he couldn't. So we are playing it safe, unless we are told other wise. Frustrating tho!

Just got off the phone with delta and ohare. Neither could conferm 100% we will get gate passes because if the holiday traffic. I was told that it is most likely we will NOT get gate passes.
So I have changed my plans. I plan to meet the bus @ 3:30 no other option really.

FLSailormom I kind of have the same question. We are arriving at the airport a couple hours after my sailor. I know where Sarge told us to go at the airport, but sailor didn't know anything about or where I can pick up gate passes. Anyone know where exactly you get the gate passes? Thanks!

We are having our son call us from USO. They are located terminal 2 where they get dropped of on mezzanine level from what I have been reading.

@FLsailor. I called delta last night. They said that my sailor must meet me at the ticket counter to get a gate pass. My son is getting there at 3:30 and won't hv his phone till I get there so we arranged to meet at ticket counter at 7am. He'll hv to go back through security so I hope it all works out. He said if someone there has a phone he'll call me to make sure things are still on schedule.
