Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Splash Mom..is your son in my son's division 026? That's kind of awful about the flu bug...especially if it happened to the same kids getting wisdom teeth pulled. Yikes!! Glad he was chipper though..that's awesome!!

Splashmom...the peanut butter shot is what my son feared most. He said it was a shot that everyone got during the P days that consist of VERY THICK medicine to keep you from getting sick while your in boot camp. I'm not sure what all is in it so maybe a more experience mom can chime in.  But he was told by a friend who went through boot camp before him that it hurt like heck!!!!

Yes, I got a letter. A very positive, humorous letter. He talked about being sleep deprived, he said the food was good, and the salad bar was great. He said there are 85 in his div., and that about 1/2 of them got sick from the live virus shot. He said the peanut butter shot in his A** hurt, and they all had to march right after that with a limp!! lol.....What's a peanut butter shot???

Thank you for sharing, Paycel! So glad you got it and he sounded good. I really have a new found respect for how incredibly difficult boot camp is. I'm proud of them all. :)

Just got the mail finally, a letter. He sounds good but he said his graduation date is not in stone and hehad 70 in his div but down to66, some people get set back a few weeks. He said he is exhausted at night between boot amp and studying. He said its the hardest thing he has ever done so far. Commanders are right out of the movies. His friend also ( female )got three letters today.
