N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi everyone!! Did you notice the days dropped below 40? Yay! The very first thing I thought of this morning was that I might get a letter. Our mail doesn't come until around 2 p.m., and our mailbox is down the street where I can't see it...sooo to make a long story short, I'm going to go sit by the mailbox....Fingers crossed for all of us!!!   Thanks for the band-aid idea, going to send some now.

Sorry all-I didn't mean to create such a buzz or cause for concern! My SR wrote exactly this: P.S.S. My Division started off with a hundred, now we are down to 73.

No explanation, just that. So that's all I can say about that. Sorry!

He said he gets 4-5 hours of sleep a night and is tested on 200 pages a week. He said he missed me several times, along with his sister and our dogs. The feeling is mutual, times a gazillion.

Sorry if this came out wrong before about the drop. Hope you all have good news in your mailbox soon. Hoping we all might get a phone call tomorrow!!!!

@ellen and diannep- WOW! That is the number of recruits dropped for one reason or another? I was way off, I thought it was points they lost for demerits. I wonder what's going on.

Comment by ellen0502 on October 18, 2013 at 11:32am

Blstz822, I can only guess that the mom who posted going from 100 to 73 didn't mean division number, but meant number of recruits in the division. The division number for a recruit would not change like that.

Comment by diannep on October 18, 2013 at 11:03am

Blstz;  That is a pretty large drop, but some may have just been delayed for one reason or another (my son was on of these when he was at Bootcamp)---others would have been discharged.  They will 'pick up' more SRs from the earlier PIR groups who had been delayed in training and now are ready to continue.  They usually don't get back up to that original number, but will gain a few SRs.

MattsMom:  It is amazing how much the shipmates will eventually support one another.  In the beginning, there can be some competition going on, some struggles, etc....but it gets much better.  The kind of friendships they make in bootcamp are very very special!

Momm2five, you are also welcome to 'borrow' the stovetop, fridge, etc in my room as well.  We'll ALL be family for sure by the time that exciting week is through!

Good morning all!

Good Morning Ladies. Thanks for the info on the questionnaires. I couldn't find them on my own. I too can't sleep, can't barely work (which I have a ton of it) and find myself glued to this site for most of my waking hours. I find it so helpful and comforting to read all your posts and love hearing what your SR's are telling you about their experience. I pray that my son is hanging in there. I know he feels so much pressure to not let his family down. I hope that the boys and girls are supporting each other and helping each other succeed in there!

Good luck getting letters today!  I just called my post office (small town) and no letter for me today :(.  It's been two and a half weeks since I've heard from him.  I did get everything I was supposed to as far as KIB and form letter, but there was nothing "extra" like a note or anything.  I am getting a little desperate for something from him, a call or letter!!!  And now I have a question for veterans -- one of the moms posted her SR's division went from 100 to 73.  Why is that?  It seems like an awful big jump for a division that isn't an 800 division.

TJsMom:  These bootcamp questionnaires may be helpful...simple for them to complete and return!  These are the ones that CatMom mentioned.
