N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi lady's! New to the group. So glad I found it though, going crazy with every day that passes.
I'm sure this is what you are all talking about, but when is everyone flying back? I haven't bought tickets yet cause the last call I got my SR said he wasn't flying out to A school for a couple days. Does that mean he can do thanksgiving with us?
Comment by diannep on October 17, 2013 at 12:35pm

Being Thanksgiving weekend when you all are there, I bet Chicago will have up its Christmas decorations????  Would be beautiful!

roots:  If that same class would be willing to write to all of the SRs, the teacher can mail in a manilla envelope addressed to your SR to pass out to his shipmates.  Include return address because many of them will want to write back to the kiddos! :-)

sweetshaye:  It is usually more economical to rent a car.  The shuttle costs can add up.  I loved renting a car and having the freedom to do what my sons wanted to do.

Good to know about Costco!

Toolmantaylor:  Bass Pro at Gurnee Mall.  My older son was with us and of course, he HAD to go there...he spends 1/2 his time going to the ones we have down here!  :-)  Nice mall....full of sailors...so its' pretty neat!

Yes, my reservation is to pick up at O'Hare but you can do any airport.  The beauty of using CostcoTravel is that you don't prepay and you can cancel the reservation with just a click of the button if you need to without a penalty.  I always book my car rentals through them.  Of course you do have to be a member though.

@sweetshayne. If u book through Costco can reserve to pickup and drop off car at airport ? (Midway) if so. Might save me some money.

Morning Ladies :)  Hope the letters start coming in for all of us.  I have 5 kids total so luckily I am able to keep my mind off my SR a bit because I am just too dang busy.  I still haven't washed her clothes that came in the KIB but I think I will do that today.  She did share a room with her 15 year old sister so luckily I don't have to deal with an 'empty room'.  My SR also had packed up all her stuff so everything she owns is in boxes out in the garage.  Kind of a strange feeling.  Just a reminder to everyone out there.  I had rented a car through Costco.com.  If you are able to do that, don't forget to go back and check the rates.  I just checked last night and my rental had gone down $40 so I was able to rebook at the lower rate!  I still don't know if I will keep the rental or just use Sarge.  Its my big debate right now :)  Have a great day everyone!

Thank you, Toolmantaylor! Let's hope it's mild for us when we're there. Sorry I addressed that question to Ladies, it should have been Ladies and Gentlemen. Thanks again.
